NFL - Sports Rumors

ProFootballTalk.com reports at least one sports radio personality in Ohio is insisting the Cleveland Browns will allow quarterback Derek Anderson go in free agency to the Miami Dolphins.

In return, the Dolphins would surrender the No.1 selection in the draft as part of required compensation. The Browns would then use the No.1 selection to take Darren McFadden from Arkansas while allowing Brady Quinn to step in as the starting quarterback. The snafu is Cleveland's willingness to part with an estimated $35 million to get McFadden.

Rumor has it, Bill Parcells wants to show some improvement in his first year in Miami and knows he won't be able to do that if he drafts a quarterback with the first selection.

I think it is a good idea. Miami needs a QB...like a good one, not John Beck or Cleo Lemon...a good one.

There is no way they do this. Not a chance. He MAY be a first rounder, but that's not even certain. This is madness.

I'm a Bills fan and i would hate to see that happen! I like Anderson, and certainly wouldn't
want to face him twice a year.Yeah, Fins keep picking QB's in the second round. It's
making our Defense look like the kings they will be in '08!!

Why wouldn't the Browns do that? Probably too good to be true though.

The bright spot is that if they are talking about it now...it will NEVER happen. Fins go 8-8 in 2008 and the fans celebrate like they just one the Super Bowl.

it's not a trade, it's compensation for being allowed to sign Anderson.. Cleveland would also get Miami's third round pick. If the Browns were to do this, I wouldn't want them to take McFadden. We need defensive linemen, like LSU's Dorsey. Jamal Lewis is just fine as the RB here.

A #1 overall pick is alot to give up on a restricted free agent....pretty sure that has never happened. If you're going to give up a #1 draft pick to sign a free agent, you'd better have a late-round pick....like the Pats would have. Oh wait...they had to give up their #1 pick because they got caught filming illegal movies without approval from the Writer's Guild.

This is the dumbest rumor I have ever heard in my life. What, one radio guy throws out some crazy theory and all of a sudden it is a legit rumor?
Did you watch Sunday's game? Anderson is a fine QB, but worth the No.1 pick in the draft? The Dolphins have way, way, WAY worse problems than Cleo Lemon and John Beck.
Wow. What a waste of space this story was.

Cleveland has a great receiving corp, they are not going to break that QB, WR chemistry. Ithink they will keep Anderson.

#1 pick is worth at least 2 #1's and a #3. Anderson is good but not that good. Parcells will probably sign a vet. and trade down for multiple picks.
    1) Pennington
    2) Brunell
    3) Volek
    to name a few

if this trade IS out there the browns would be stupid not to take it. mcfadden is a beast. he is a rare thing. more durable but then ap but still in same breath as each other. you could have tim couch back with those weapons and a good oline they would be playoff bound. dorsey is a great talent but no way you take a guy whos that injury prone with 1st pick. new england would take him at 2 and would never get hurt since the luck is on there side but with browns luck couldnt take him

Cleveland would be better suited with Dorsey and resign Jamal Lewis than McFadden.. The lineman, not their former QB
