Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley(notes) may have a fractured ankle but that doesn't mean he can't have massively hefty men pounding him onto the turf again soon. According to ESPN, Cooley and his ankle could be back in four weeks.
He's apparently getting three pins stuck in there today (Fun!) and is hoping that he'll only need to miss the next month. A foot specialist has told him that his foot isn't nearly as bad as everybody originally figured it was so the Redskins decided to keep him off injured reserve.
Cooley, the 'Skins best pass catcher so far this season, suffered the injury Monday night during the team's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Oddly, it happened with no contact from any Eagle. Cooley went down all on his own during the first play of the second quarter. Redskins head coach Jim Zorn originally said Cooley would definitely miss six to eight weeks, but Zorn has been wrong about a lot of things this season.
