Jared Allen

The Minnesota Vikings had Jared Allen right where they wanted him Friday. The Pro Bowl defensive end spent much of his day receiving first-class treatment and visiting with team officials according to the Star-Tribune.

But owner Zygi Wilf attempted to downplay talk the Vikings were on the verge of working out a trade with Kansas City or a multiyear contract for Allen with agent, Ken Harris, who also was in town. Both of those things would have to happen for Allen, designated by the Kansas City Chiefs as their franchise player, to end up in Minnesota.

"It's a multi-front type of [deal]," Wilf said. "You have to deal with Kansas City, you have to deal with Jared. It's a whole aspect, and you have to weigh that with what's best for the club. That's ultimately what's most important. What would be the best for this club and how we can get to the next level?"

I think that we should go after someone like Peppers instead coming off a down year whos stock is a lot lower than Allen. Peppers still has it and then we could keep our first round pick and get a new tackle to keep jackson from getting killed.

i dont know if i would give up my first round pick for this guy...i know he had 15.5 sacks last year but to get nothing in the first round of the draft is a tough pill to swallow

Why is this even a rumor? It is no surprise that Carl Perterson is doing everything he can to totally destroy this franchise. He should have been fired before he was allowed to hire Herm Edwards. Peterson is doing exactly what he did with Tony G. only he has allowed other teams to talk to Allen. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!! Allen has no loyalty to the Chiefs. He wants to go where the money is. Tony wanted to stay a Chief. If Allen is traded for anything less than a 1st AND 3rd rounder this year and possible 2nd next year depending on performance then he needs to be fired on the spot. Then if they get a 1st rounder that means the Chiefs will have 2 1st round draft picks holding out come training camp because everybody knows that Peterson wants to try and pay 3rd rounder $$$ for a 1st round pick. No matter how you look at it the Chiefs are F*CKED for the next 4 to 5 years or more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Herm and carl is it not about time for you guys to retire! that way you can be appreciated by your family. just an observation. jared and priest running in 2 games was all there was to cheer about last season! i could go on,but i've been a chief fan since mike garrett and len dawson! i even moved to missouri to be close to the 2 teams that i ever cared about and now la wants to build a stadium.i guess i should have stayed in so-cal!

Any trade for Allen that included McKinnie would definitely NOT include the Viking's 1st rounder. KC is desperate for O-line help. If anything, KC might get a 5th or 6th with Mckinnie at best.

Allen is not worth worth a first and second round pick. MAybe a first round and third would work. He is based way to highly on one great season. But I do like the guy and his motor never stops

they'd be lucky to get a guy who could get 15.5 sacks with the very first pick, let alone their middle of the pack first round pick. he's the chiefs best player and is definitely worth the asking price. just make sure to keep him away from the booze.

All of you who call for Peterson and Edwards to be fired are extremely shortsighted. If that were to happen, the Chiefs would be so much better, wouldn't they? WRONG. Patience is a virtue and something that few people have (namely Chiefs fans). In the era of the quick fix, Herm, Carl & Clark Hunt are doing it the right way. The way the Patriots have done it. We can agree that they have been fairly successful the last few years can't we? Just accept the fact that the team is getting better and this trade will help in the long run. They may not be a playoff caliber team in '08 but they will be a solid team for many years to come after that because of this approach. And when that happens, all of fools now should find another team to root for. It's embarassing being associated with such ignorance.

Any Vikings fan that says "giving up a first round pick for J Allen is a tough pill to swallow" should take some more pills and just swallow. He's actually worth a lot more than a 1st and 3rd.. but I think the Vikes will make that deal work out.

Remember that this guy got those 15.5 sacks in only 14 games!
He'd fill a huge need for the Vikings. The only justification for trading him is the fact that KC needs help at so many positions it isn't funny (QB, at least 2-3 OL, WR, CB, etc.). Allen is in his prime, but he'll be on the downside by the time they can get the rest of the team anywhere near his level.

Vikings have to get him...put him w/ the Williams(s) and our front 4 will dominate. A pass rushing specialist is the final piece of the puzzle for this defense. Our secondary has been taking a beating for years now because we can never get any pressure on the QB. Getting Jared is a must!!!!!

Forget about it,Peterson's not going to make any trade. He's just blowing smoke & going to see what other teams are offering so he can match the offer.Next year he will put the Franchise tag on him again with the exclusive that no other team can nego with him.Jared won't sign & will hold out for more $,miss training camp & probably a few too many games & lower his value to the league.Thats the way the jerk Peterson works. He has to have all the power or he won't do any deal.Jared loves the Chiefs but dose'nt like Peterson but will for the right $.
