NFL - Sports Rumors

“RoyTerrell Owens(notes) and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo(notes) never really seemed very connected while the pair shared the Lone Star State, even though this was supposedly Romo's No. 1, go-to receiver. And you can be sure Owens took note of that fact.

Now Roy Williams is doing the same thing: taking note that more balls are headed in the direction of the supposed No. 2 receiver than to him, the supposed No. 1 receiver. "It's just not even close," said Williams to ESPNDallas.com. "It's not even funny. Not even close. . . . I'm the No. 1 receiver. But things are just going No. 2's way."

No. 2, otherwise known as Miles Austin(notes), has 563 receiving yards this season and six touchdowns. He's averaging 80.4 yards per game. Williams, meanwhile, has 249 yards receiving this season, good for an average of 41.5 a game and two touchdowns.

Williams lays the blame on Romo. "(Austin) gets the ball thrown correctly his way," Williams said. "I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody [else] who's been here's balls are there. Our footballs [from Romo to Williams] are everywhere right now."

Others are thinking it could be Williams' fault. It's safe to say there is a new No. 1 receiver in Dallas, though.

so it begins...i only hope that williams takes this and turns it into motivation to stirve to be that number 1 again, and not take the route of some other playmakers with bad attitudes.

Hmm...Owens caught 38 touchdowns in 3 years...it seemed he and Romo worked together well enough. What's Williams's excuse?

If dude don't sound like a hater then I don't know what a hater is.
He has a point though Romo does leave him hung out to dry by throwing high across the middle and he still tries to go get the pass so give him a lil credit. I know for a fact in separate games I've seen Romo lead Williams acrooss the middle and throw the ball too high or too low so he ain't lying.
But to hate on another dude who finally got a chance to shine and is doing just that is BS.
I never liked Roy to begin with and could of told you he would never be a suitable replacement for T.O.

Can't run a clean route, can't get separation, can't make make more than one cut while running and can't catch a ball; yet everyone else is producing. Maybe he needs some time to reflect upon these his non-contributing factors from the bench.

Go ahead and make excuses but my reccomendation would be to take your fu*%ing GAZILLION dollar contract and jst figure out a way to get with the program or move on.. He won't be here next year at this rate.. BRING ON KEVIN OGLETREE!!!

are you f ing kidding me? roy ell williams, are you really opening your mouth? dallas is playing for the lead in their division this weekend and this idiot is complaing because his passes aren't as pretty as miles austin? of course, t.o. opens his mouth and when he does, its not that big of a deal. you might even say that t.o. has earned the right. or at least everyone is just used to his complaining ....roy ell, you on the other hand haven't earned anything. not even your entire paycheck...shut up and make something happen you overrated douche bag.

I will admit that romo hasnt been hitting him on some passes and at times their timing looks off. If I were williams I would have gotten with Romo and worked extra after practice on our timing and chemistry. What Williams is choosing to do instead is open his mouth to the media who will ultimately blow this up and eventually its going to come back to the locker room. What a dumb move to make right when their starting to get back on track. Everyone else needs to focus on the task at hand instead and Williams needs to wake the hell up and see what he's doing is wrong. Austin has worked hard and deserves his chance. To say that is also taking away from him. Football teams are only as good as their weakest link and that goes physically and mentally. Wiilaims needs to get his mind right before he screws up everything. Not a cowboys fan by the way just saying......

STFU Roy, you keep sayin hey im happy as long as we win. Then pull this shyt when where heading into a rivalry game. Are you kidding me, how bout you run a betta route and catch the ball when hits your hands dykehead. #10 i hear ya but i saw the actual interview and his body language while he's saying these things clearly says he's pissed and he doesn't care if we win or not get me the ball. That kind of attitude has no place anywhere i dont care how much he's gettin paid you become a distraction you need to be removed from the situation.

Romo's throws to Roy are bad quite often but i think alot of that comes from him not trust him. There have been several passes right to him on slants that he dropped in pretty important situations in the red zone. And Roy likes to cut his routes short, run sloppy and lazy routes that leave Romo open to interceptions because Roy isn't where he's supposed to be

Whatever happened to team first? If Austin is getting more balls and they are winning who cares? Is he getting paid per reception? Stop crying and get open and maybe you'll get more balls. I don't hear Randy Moss complaining that Welker gets more balls thrown to him. How's Romo supposed to be affective if he has to worry about guys crying all the time.

Another of Jerry "the Egotists" Jones' hand picked non- achievers is in the news. As expected, Roy has been exactly what he was in Detroit- an overhyped underachieving "average at best" receiver. Even so, I find it ironic that the last 2 number one designated Cowboy receivers have said essentally the same thing. First T.O., who is a proven go-to receiver and Roy "I never lived up to the hype" Williams. With T.O. it was Whitten. With Roy it is Austin. The only common denominator in these scenerios is ROMO. And, of course, there is the "brains behind the vaunted Cowboys offense", Jason Garrett. Add it all up and you have the current version of the Dallas Cowboy soap opera. Stay tuned for the next episode of "As My Stomach Turns", written and directed by Jerry Jones.
