Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Felix Jones will be placed on the injured reserve and will have surgery to repair a torn ligament underneath his left big toe according to the Dallas Morning News. A date has yet to be set for the operation, which will be performed by Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist in Charlotte, N.C.

Jones, the No. 22 overall pick in the draft, provided a big-play complement to Marion Barber and showed flashes of brilliance in his six games. He had 266 yards on 30 carries (8.9 yards per carry) and scored four touchdowns, including a kickoff return.

Jones suffered a partially torn hamstring on a 14-yard run in the loss to the Cardinals and hasn't played since. He suffered the toe injury while rehabbing his hamstring during the bye week.

The Cowboys' medical staff, with input from Dr. Anderson, determined that the best option for Jones' long-term future would be to have season-ending surgery on the toe.

How much would it suck to be a RB with a sore big toe? I'd probably want to get it fixed right too.

But you're at an uphill climb my friend, it would have been a hell of a lot easier on you had Felix the Cat been in the lineup. Not counting you guys out, just not counting on you being there either.

Hopefully our line will play like they did against Skins. If they do we will be alright. Romo and Williams need to start get their timing in order to stop Double teams on T.O. and Witten and open more running room for Barber. Austin is also out for 2-4 weeks. Bad year for injuries.
