“VinceVince Young(notes) will be the starting quarterback this Sunday when the Tennessee Titans take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. But it's not because head coach Jeff Fisher wants him to be in there, according to the Tennessean.

Even though his team is 0-6, Fisher apparently still feels more confidence in Kerry Collins(notes). Team owner Bud Adams feels differently and has made the world aware of it. So Fisher is doing what the 86-year-old billionaire boss wants but he took until Thursday to name Collins the starter. The rumor is that he took those days so he could try and convince Adams that Collins is still the man for the job (or perhaps to convince Adams that Young isn't the man for the job).

Any way you slice it, Fisher isn't taking ownership of the decision to start Young. He's saying the choice was made "collectively": "We don't make decisions as individuals," he said. Of course you don't.

We'll all see how that collective decision works out soon enough.

By now everyone should know that Jeff Fisher is arrogant and "stubborn". It really is time to clean house and get a new offfensive minded coach, new QB's, and REAL Wide Receivers. Now that the defense is without a "pass defense" having a high power offense is more important than ever. Jeff Fisherball will no longer work in the NFL.

"Jeff Fisherball" was good enough to go 13-3 last year.
I do agree that the team over achieved last year, and that the team needs decent wide receivers if they want to compete. At the end of the day football games are won and lost on the offenseive and defensive lines. Loosing Albert Haynesworth (spelling?) was a blow on the defensive line, and having a quaterback running for his life or a running back running into defensive walls is not condusive to scoring points.

VInce Young like most youthful QBs need time to mature and work through the kinks of operating w/i a fishbowl. Kerry is trash and the world knows that...VY will mos def offer the team a spark. he's 18-11 as a starter and took Tenn to the playoffs in his rookie season, just 2 yrs back.
VY will lead them to some wins, but still may have to leave Nashville....and yes it is mos def time for Fisher to get the boot....

Jeff Fisher must go. It's not Kerry Collins at all - the Titans defense does not exist. Their defense strategies do not exist. And their receivers continue to fumble and drop (because they relentlessly catch and carry with one hand/arm...) flawless throws by Collins. Over and over and over they catch, then drop, flawless throws.
Collins and now Young are executing FISHER'S junky game plan. Receivers will drop Young's throws. And the Defense will STILL NOT EXIST.
    FISHER MUST GO.

yea bud, turn your team over to a overweight, lazy, me first QB.
all reports are that vince won't study game film or prepare for his
    opponent.
bud just doesn't want to pay him his $5 million bonus next year.
if fisher had any sense, he should quit and let bud be the head coach.
titans, never forget that your problem is bud, not fisher.

"Fisherball" - Yep - Fisherball - Jeff's excruciatingly conservative game plan: the moment the team gains lead, Fisher completely abandons the offensive game plan and strictly focuses on defense.
It worked last season, but not now.
    FISHERBALL MUST GO.

Coach Fisher is one of the best in the NFL, defense has always won playoff games with the exception of the Colts and how many Peyton Mannings are there out there? Bud Adams wants another Steve McNair, Eddie George combination. We have the running attack, can Vince Young be another Steve McNair? Why not let him get some game experience and find out now that our playoff chances are almost zero?

I think coach fisher should know better by now that as a head coach in this league that if a QB is not getting the job done you switch to your 2nd man. if they didnt have confident in Young, i dont think they should have pick him, but i think Fisher is trying to say that Collins is not the problem to the Titan losing season so far. He better make up his mind before the Titans pull a Detroit stun by going winless, Detroit have already left them in the dog hole as a winless team and i think they will pull another W this weekend against St.Louis.
Go Vince Young!!!! win this week and tell every one that Collins is the issue on the Titans

When you lead the league in drops, its hard to put the blame on the quarterback. Young can take a sack, fumble and throw an intercption or two as good as Collins can. Give him a chance.

The "problem" with the Titans is not Jeff Fisher, nor Collins, nor for that matter the Owners' publically expressed opinion of "Young over Collins." Good teams go through bad times. Anyone with even the tiniest bit of sports history knowledge--or a 15 minute google search--can see that historically, many teams have had horrendous seasons following championships, conference titles, or divisional titles. With all that said, I do agree that it might benefit the Titans to use this "winless" situation as the right time to test Vince Young. I believe what the #11 POST stated is very practical and very true: "Why not let him get some game experience and find out now that our playoff chances are almost zero?" Well said.

What's worse - giving up 59 points or scoring none? Collins v. Young is only one story in a team with fundamental problems in every phase. Ultimately, which QB plays better may make some difference in our performance, but without addressing the other - just as obvious - issues, this team is not going to solve the puzzle...

Collins is a good QB,but the OL is not clicking, as long as He doesn't fumble the ball, Young can take off running when the line collapses. Not a Young fan ,but give Him a try, He can gain some yards with His legs..

If WR's are dropping perfect passes and are open then the offensive game plan isn't to blame...its working the WR's just aren't executing.
If your offense isn't putting points on the board or moving the ball consistenly, then your defense is on the field longer and longer.
Fisher isn't your problem, its the talent that is the problem. Your secondary is injured and your pass rush is non-existent, that is a two-fold problem. Do you blitz and leave a vulnerable secondary open, possibly. Do you not blitz and leave more guys in coverage but then give a QB all day to read the field, possibly.
Its a talent problem in Tennesse. And you have to be retarded if you think "Fisherball" wont work in the NFL. I don't know what it is about their team losing or bad times coming up, but it turns them into unreasonable retards.

The season is in shambles for the Titans....I would go with Collins but I guess you have to start to look toward the future....put Vince Young in for a few games and see what he can do.....if he shows that he still sucks then its time to dump his ass and go back to Collins and start looking for a quarterback for the future...

#4 "By now everyone should know that Jeff Fisher is arrogant and "stubborn". Hum, wanna trade your arrogant & stubborn coach for the equally arrogant & stubborn John Fox with the Panthers. Carolina barely won 2 ugly games but most everyone agrees that Jake shouldn't be starting against the nightmare (Cardinals) that started his downfall last year. The sad news for Carolina fans is apparently Fox has zero confidence in their #2 & #3 QBs so why carry them? I not even going to watch because I think Carolina is going to get slaughtered if Jake has his recent "typical" day.

I like them both and they have different things to offer, unfortunatly neither have to much or we would have no debate over it. I'm pulling for you Vince because I think its your last shot so you better play your guts out. Use your feet and it should open up the passing game if anyone can catch the ball. Need more screen passes to Johnson and our TE have to step up. Algea Fumbler needs to hang onto the ball. We also got away from Smash and we have been all Dash. Let White where the defense down a little first and shorten the game then bring in Johnson for some big plays and maybe we can pull one out or atleast keep it close. I appreciate Collins but he's just gettin old and at 0-6 its time to move on.
    Go Titans!
