Texans will trade Rosenfels to Vikings

The Houston Texans nearly traded quarterback Sage Rosenfels to the Minnesota Vikings last year. It appears the deal will get done later this week according to the Houston Chronicle. The Texans will receive a fourth-round draft choice in return.

The Chronicle reported The Texans can't consummate their trade of Rosenfels to the Minnesota Vikings before 12:01 a.m. Friday, the start of the NFL year and the beginning of free agency.

Rosenfels won six games in replaced of Houston starter Matt Schaub over the last two seasons. With the Vikings, Rosenfels will be given the change to win the job over Tarvaris Jackson.

The Texans appear willing to deal Rosenfels because of a contract that expires after next season. Rosenfels could leave without compensation. The fourth-round pick gives them eight selections in the April 25-26 draft and also gives them some flexibility in case they want to try to move up rather than down, according to The Chronicle.

    I'd rather have Schaub, but Resenfels is like a young Frerotte. So, i'll take it for a 4th round pick, what could it hurt. If he does nothing, then atleast we got T-Jack to make him look better.

    Rosenfels could be solid in the right situation. He has that fire and desire to win at all cost. Maybe that causes him to make some mistakes, but if he could get more experience he might be a solid starter in the NFL. Plus, he is an upgrade over Frerotte and Jackson. Rosenfels and Jackson could have a pretty healthy competition for starting quarterback, which could make both quarterbacks much better. On that note, I'm glad I'm a Steelers fan and I don't have to worry about a quarterback. Good luck Vikes. Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go!!!

    He is basically the same as a young Ferrotte, meaning a below average QB. He is a good backup, but hopefully he never has to play based on that Indy game where he lost a 2 touchdown lead in the final parts of the game.
    Vikings need a QB, I would have went after David Carr. The Viks O-Line is good, it isn;t as good as the Giants. But the brief time Carr was given a chance to play with the Giants he showed that if he has a line that won't let him get sacked 10 times per game, he can be a good QB. He has a cannon for an arm and is close to as moblie as Tarvaris Jackson.
    I would've sent the Giants a 4th rounder if they were offering.

    Rosenfels is not the guy we need, but he would be an improvement over Gus. Lets be very clear NOBODY can be successful under Childress. Bring in Sage and get rid of Brad.

    Rosenfels sucks he will do nothing but bring the team down...He single handedly lost a 20 point lead against the Colts...has a noodle for an arm and needs way to many inprovements to become a NFL starter...Good for the Texans for finding a team to actually take him....

    All the Vikings need is a QB to manage the game and take some pressure off Petterson, someone who can throw a deep one every now and then. Rosenfels, I don't think is that guy but for that matter niether are Jackson or Frerotte so. He is a pretty good backup though so well worth a 4th round pick. Vick is a joke as a qb, not even getting in to the whole legal crap, he'll end up a cowboy or a raider.

    just needs to limit his turnovers and he could be decent in minnesota. the answer? probably not, but definitely better than what they have, and all it cost was a 4th round pick.
