Ryan Moats, a 26-year-old running back with the Houston Texans was detained by police and threatened with arrest while his mother-in-law lay dying in a hospital across the street from where he was stopped, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The incident, captured on the dashboard camera of a police cruiser, shows Moats pleading with the officer to let him get his wife to the into hospital. The incident has resulted in a police invesitagation and apologies from the Dallas police.
According to the Morning News, Moats rolled through a red light and was pulled over by a Dallas police outside the emergency room. Tamishia Moats attempted to leave the vehicle but ordered back into the car by the officer.
"You really want to go through this right now?" Moats pleaded. "My mother-in-law is dying. Right now!"
According to the Morning News, the officer, 25-year-old Robert Powell, was unmoved. He spent long minutes writing Moats a ticket and threatened him with arrest.
"I can screw you over," the officer told Moats. "I'd rather not do that."

They told the cop the person was dying, refused to follow his commands, had no proof of insurance.
