NFL - Scoop Du Jour

Wide receiver Terrell Owens(notes) is always full of surprises. He has played 15 seasons in the NFL and is planning to play another, but he'll have to hold off while he heals from previously undisclosed surgery on his ACL this offseason, sources tell ESPN.

The 37-year-old tore his ACL this offseason and surgery took place "within the last month," the site reports.

It is unclear when exactly Owens had the injury: One source "said Owens tore the ACL during a personal workout but other sources could not confirm the cause of injury," ESPN reports.

He could return to action by mid-November if all goes well, the site notes, but it's unclear where he'll be playing when the season finally gets underway; he'll be a free agent when the lockout ends. In 2010, Owens made $2 million while catching 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals.
