“JeffTennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher has had a nice long run with the team and owner Bud Adams but it's looking like his ride on the employment rainbow may come to an end when this sorry season finishes, according to the Tennessean.

And there won't be a pot of gold at the end unless you count the fact that Fisher has a contract till the end of 2011. Even with that, there's no reason to think Adams will keep him onboard for another year more than the 16 he's served with the team.

The main sticking point, of course, is the quarterback situation. Fisher really seemed to think Kerry Collins(notes) was the right man for the job and it took massive applications of pressure by Adams to get Fisher to start Young, who won his first game back as starter. "We'll just have to see what happens the rest of the way," Adams said. "I'll have to make my decision after the season is up."

Right now, his decision is looking pretty easy.

Well It's obvious from the past that Jeff Fisher is a good coach. You can't judge him just on this one year. He will go somewhere else and have success there and the Titans will look like idiots.

The titans would be stupid to get rid of him and the titans would be stupid to keep him. He is a hell of a football coach but sometimes he cant get my titans to get their stuff together.

This article is rediculous. Jeff Fisher has a great resume and is not on the hot seat. Those comments made by Bud Adams was said after their 0-6 start. He has recently said that Jeff Fisher is not going anywhere.

He has to be FIRED anytime the owner is smarter than the coach, its time for the coach to be fired!! There is Bill Cowher, Mike Holcomb, Steve Marrucci, Mike Shannahan, Tony Dungy and Chuckie still out there available tio coach. Well maybe Tony Dungy is not available. But the point is there are still good coaches out there and what has Fisher done in 16 years? he went to 1 Super Bowl. Chucky actually won 1 and still was fired.!!!! Bye Bye Fisher. Good Ridings to ya..................................

Gonzo that's a solid choice but i would much rather Shannahan, Gruden, or Holmgren in that order.

post #9, Tony Dungy? Give me a break, he is the most overrated coach in history along with Parcells. Lynch, Sapp, Brooks, Ahanatu were all drafted by Sam Wyche in Tampa. Dungy couldn't get that team to score double digits in 4 straight playoff losses. Gruden did it in one year with a team Wyche built and a pedestrian QB. They were 9-7 last year and now they are 0-7, Maybe Gruden wasn't such a bad coach afterall, heh?
Then he goes to Indy with the best QB of this generation and it takes him 6 years to get to the Super Bowl. Oh yeah, the defense was horrific that year, and he's supposed to be a defensive guru. I don't know why they keep calling this guy a hall of fame coach. Tampa 2 ain't nothing but the Steelers defense from the '70s. And by the way, Mora drafted Manning & Harrison. The fact that he's gone and they're 7-0 tells you a little bit about the O-Coordinator doesn't it.
Same with Parcells. Show me a team that he took to the Super Bowl that didn't have Bellicheck on the staff, you won't find one. Bellicheck is the real deal, Andy Reid is the real deal, John Gruden is the real deal.

If Bud Adans thinks Vince Young is his quarterback then you dont have to worry about the Titans in any playoff games with him at qb. What did he pass for against Jacksonville. 14 of 18 for 140 yrds. Any good defence will eat him up. lol VY is NOT a nfl qb

well, if fisher needs a job, there will almost certainly be a job available in Buffalo, and I wouldn't mind him coming in, better than what we have now by a long shot.

I guarantee that another team will snatch Fisher up in a heartbeat if Bud is that short-sighted and arrogant enough to let him go.

Jeff Fisher has been an excellent for a lot of years. Sometimes a coach's relationship with an owner has run it course and it's time for both parties to move on. I doubt Fisher will be out of work for any length of time, unless it's his choice. Jerry jones has long coveted Jeff Fisher.

The job of a coach is to win games. The job of an owner is to make money. Adams' push to start VY has way more to do with business decisions than winning games at this point. Whenever a team is in this position there is going to be inevitable friction between owner and coach because they have different agendas and priorities. Adams would be making a mistake to fire Fisher and I don't think he will. The question at this point is whether to hitch the Titans wagon to VY or not - case closed. And however it ends up playing out, Fisher's job essentially wont chance. He'll still be charged with trying to win games with the players he has, VY or otherwise.

I can't seem to understand why all you guys think that Jeff field goal Fisher is a great coach. 16 years and no Super Bowl wins? I mean really who in any sport last this long without having one a single title? Come on name one person......I didn't think so. I pray that he is fired maybe then my Titans will get a real coach that can teach these guys how to wrap up when they try to tackle someone,as oppossed to just hitting them with your shoulder pads and pushing them forward for a first down or doing what MJD did on sunday. Let's be honest my fellow titans fans if it were not for that Music City Miracle we would not have made it to the Super bowl. And need I remind you that has been 10 yrs ago now. The two times we have had homefield advantage we lost at home both times which means they weren't prepared. I am going to be pissed if fisher is not fired. He is a freaking joke. It has to be some consequences for continuing to drop passes all the time. Like lose your starting job. As an example when Limas Sweed a number 2 draft pick for Pittsburgh kept dropping the ball. Mike Tomlin put his azz on the bench where he belongs and called him out in the media and said if does get another he BETTER catch the ball. Thats a real coach, and I hate the Steelers but you can't argue with success. 2yrs and a Super Bowl win. Fisher 16 yrs nothing.

I dont think this is a lot different than the Shanny in Denver situation, sometimes things just run thier course.
Shanny said he got called to the owners office, tought he was coming fo r lunch as was usual.
If aAdams fires Fisher, he will land on his feet with a better job.
