Donovan McNabb

Was the recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb a sign that the Philadelphia Eagles might trade Donovan McNabb before the 2007 season?

That's one theory, anyway. As for a possible destination, the Chicago Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. They might have won it last year except for a glaring weakness at quarterback.

The key to this scenario is Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who has said publicly that he will never play for Chicago again and who refused to report to minicamp on Friday.

Briggs is, arguably, the best weakside linebacker in the game and is only 26. He could help Philly rebuild its defense while Kolb gets ready to take control of the offense.

    shahz_89_2004,
The Eagles tried that once... and failed. What makes you think the results will be different next time?

This actually could work out... The eagles already have Feeley and Holcomb and now Kolb, and they do need some help on defense.

Reid and McNabb are not parting ways anytime soon. Their relationship is such that McNabb knows his job is safe. If he went to Chicago would his job be safe? Maybe until he gets hurt again. With the eagles he's always got a job.

I don't like Philly at all. If this trade happened I would actually feel very bad for there fans. McNabb is still in his prime. Its not like he is Trent Green or anything like that. I don't see how trading a LB for a franchise QB is even a question. The QB is the leader and I don't know about you but I would not be comfortable with an unproven rookie from Houston...a Bad QB at best in Feely...and a journeyman in Holcomb to lead Philly. You might as well give up the season if this happens. Franchise QB's don't grow on trees. Just ask Detroit.

Briggs is overrated. He is a product of the Tamps 2 system and has the benefit of playing next to Urlacher. Plus, the Eagles traded for Takeo Spikes who is already a will backer

I'd be all for it if I thought for a second McNabb would stay healthy for more than 4 games. Trent Green for Briggs would make more sense at this point. KC needs D and we need a pocket threat to exploit our receiving talent.

No one has ever paid attention to the Eagles' defensive philosophy, which greatly disvalues the linebacker position. There is NO way they trade mcnabb for an LB, and I HIGHLY doubt they do a trade at all, though some people like to feed the rumor mill it seems.
