Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Ryan Clark's ooh-inducing hit on New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker was ruled legal after a review by the league office. Now Clark hopes to catch Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys coming across the middle and land a similar shot on him.

"I try to hit everybody," Clark said yesterday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I don't care which one. I'll take them all, I don't turn any of them down. We're just going to go out there and play.

"If that opportunity presents itself [against Owens], of course you take that shot. But if you have to tackle him by his shoestring, I'll take that one too, as long as he gets to the ground."

T.O. knows Clark, and SS Troy Polamalu, for that matter, will be coming after him. Not that he's concerned.

"I don't worry about it," T.O. said. "I've got a helmet, too."

This is the attitude of someone who lays a dirty cheapshot and gets away with it. You let him slide and he is already bragging about how he will do this (again) to anybody.

yours is the attitude of a candy-a$$ed sissy...
This is a contact sport, heavy on the contact at times, and this is what these guys thrive on.

Nice message the NFL is sending. Getting away with a dirty cheap shot. He knew Welker wasn't even close to that ball. Meanwhile Goodell's spending all his time prosecuting a player who shot HIMSELF

First of all he isnt bragging about i Baradat. Safties are suppose to hit WR's over the middle. Second look at Rodney Harrison, he always braggs about taking people out. Same with the Baltimore Ravens bragging about taking out Mendenhall. Just because you hate on the Steelers doesnt mean you have to disrespect one of the better safties in the league about taking a shot on a WR over the middle. It wasnt a dirty hit and you have to make WR's think twice about going over the middle. Quit whinning and complaining about it. No one screamed bloody murder when the big bad ratbirds took out medenhall or rodney harrison bragged about his dirty hits. Ryan Clarke isnt a bragger. Bottom line, hes a football player.

BTW - it wasn't "let slide" - he drew a ridiculous 15 yard penalty for unnecessary~sniff~boo-hoo~roughness
He ain't gonna change the way he plays the game, though, and like TO says, "He got a helmet, too"
...even though Clark's helmet never had anything to do with it...

"I try to hit everybody," Clark said yesterday. Whats he suppose to do just tapp them like a little girl. And say go down. He didnt even say he just wants to go after Owens... he just wants tackle people and get them down any way he can. Next you bunch of bums will be calling Hines Ward a dirty player.

ZMAN1201 you cant call rodney harrisons hits dirty or the ravens playing dirty if you cant admit that this hit WAS dirty, yes football is a contact sport BUT hte ball was no where near welker at all which gave Clark no reason to hit welker, which makes Clarks hit dirty, get over it.

Well, Markie-mark, Welker, who himself even called Clark's hit clean and legitimate, will be fine and will play this week.
...so your "cheap [profane]quot; (intentionally misspelled) whining doesn't even apply here...

This isn't the man's sport Polamalu wants. The hit on Welker was legal, but unnecessary. To say that he is looking to make more hits like this is unsportsmanlike in every regard. Say that you're going to hit T.O. when it matters, not just for the sake of making a hit that doesn't matter for anything.

It's ok clark must remember that he has WR's to that also have to come across the middle, but I wouldn't like a big hit we want picks, besides it's football. already!

Before you get on my back, I'm fine with the hit on Welker, even though it was pretty pointless because Welker isn't afraid of stuff like that. But it wasn't a purposeful hit at all, it doesn't make him a better safety. If he pops a receiver when he actually has a chance of making a play on the ball, I'll say wow, that's a heads up play. This kind of play doesn't raise his level of game, and him just saying he wants to make more hits like that just means he's out there to do some damage, not focus on doing what the defense needs him to do.

Ahh poor Pats fans. Get a little "Rodney Harrison" medicine of your own and you cry about it. The ball was tipped and they were moving really fast. You can't break down NFL plays in super slow motions. It was a big hit period.

it was a legal hit the ball would have been right on welker but it was tipped, Clark only saw that the ball was going to be on target, so when he began his hit and the ball was tipped there was nothing he could do. The hit itself wasnt illegal either. . Clark didnt lead with his helmet. The announcers in the game said that it was called cause he launched off his feet...theres no rule against that. This is football, you gotta have your head on a swivel.

FYI that pass to Welker was tipped, and there was no way of Clark knowing that. It was a great hit!

what we should be worried about, is that it was in fact a pretty pointless and unnecessary hit. what could very well happen after the season if more hits like that, or ward on rivers, continue to make a negative impact and spark these discussions, that the nfl will in fact take action. new rules. new restrictions. new penalties. more bull. the nfl players should know when to step back just to maintain a sense of integrity in the game.

TO would kick his a$$. He'll have to cheap shot him to take him out. Play wasn't deemed 'illegal' but it was a cheap shot, plain and simple. Just like Hines Ward. They produce cheap shot artists in Pittsburgh. Probably why Plax carries a gun, figures someone around him will cheap shot him after all that time with cheap shot artists in Pitt.
