Willie Parker(notes) was the starting running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers before he inured a toe and lost his effectiveness, only averaging 3.1 yards per carry. And when he sat down, all Steeler fans got to witness the ascension of backup Rashard Mendenhall(notes), who has rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns in the last two games.
Now Mendenhall has been sent home with an illness during Thursday's practice and it isn't clear if he'll be healed up by Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Parker is practicing now with a specially made shoe to protect his toe and the team is hoping that he'll be back at full strength by Sunday's game against the visiting Cleveland Browns.
What is most likely, though, is that the team ends up with two players who aren't at full strength and get to trade off as the game progresses.

Wonderful to see that 'defense only' team go down the drain. Another 60 years of failure like from late 30's to the mid 70's and all of the 80's and 90's. SCUM
