The Pittsburgh Steelers are bumming. It's looking like one of the team's top defensive players, strong safety Troy Polamalu(notes), could miss the first half of the season but the good news is that he doesn't appear to need surgery on his hurt left knee, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after the team's 13-10 overtime win over the Tennessee Titans last Thursday that Polamalu could be gone for as little as three weeks with the injury.
Polamalu apparently wanted to go back into the game after he got hurt in the second quarter. And why not? He already had an interception and six tackles. But the medical staff would not let him.
Wonder how many docs it took to wrestle Polamalu down
