Seahawks deny interest in Shockey

Could Jeremy Shockey be the answer to the Seattle Seahawks' need for a tight end? No, the club said Wednesday, after the New York Daily News reported that the Seahawks are among the teams interesting in trading for the Giants' disgruntled tight end according to a report in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

The Seahawks quickly dismissed the report, saying they have no serious interest in the four-time Pro Bowler, who sat out the Giants' run to the Super Bowl after breaking his leg in Week 15 of the regular season. The Seahawks plan to address the tight end position in the NFL draft this weekend.

The Giants are not actively trying to trade Shockey, 27, the Daily News reported, but the paper also said some in the organization are convinced he will be traded before the first day of the draft has been completed. The New Orleans Saints are interested in acquiring Shockey, who has been telling friends he wants to go to the Saints to be reunited with Sean Payton, the Giants' former offensive coordinator who is now New Orleans' head coach. Shockey also is looking to rework his contract, the paper reported, even though there are four years remaining on the deal.

If I were the Hawks, I would not trade the 25th draft pick for him. Would you?

heck yes i would trade a first round pick for him...then pick up a TE in the second round or a K. there would be no one the Hawks "need'' in the first round that they cant get in the second round. and the Hawks neeeeeeeed a TE effing bad!

The Hawks need Shockey but his history (attitude) is not good. We need to draft TE Dustin Keller! That guy will be available at pick 25. He could play ASAP. Then draft some depth at OL then a kicker late 5th-6th round. Olindo Mare was a decent add but good kicker should be easy to find! I say if the Giants want anymore than a late draft pick or a Defensive backup then they want to much and we should wait till he is a free-agent, then start talks!

There is no way Shockey is worth a first rounder. Maybe..maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder at best and second day late pick. The guy is all attitude, no performance. The NFL has too many of these "heads" walking around. Let him sit.

Yes...Shockey has a hot head...but what professional athlete doesn't? What makes Jeremy Shockey great is his intensity! He always gives 110%. He will keep running through guys even without his helmet on! That's the kind of player that will help fire up this Seattle offense day in and day out! Seattle and Jeremy Shockey = CHAMPIONSHIP! Seattle has one of the greatest if not the Greatest defenses in the NFL right now! They only have to work on the offense for the most part.

Absolutely Rollercoaster_guy. I'd go out and get Kevin Boss, since he's born and bread in the NW. Why waste a draft pick, on someone who's suffered an injury that can affect the rest of his career like Shockey did. Besides, Seattle should use thier first round pick for a future running back. Maybe someone like Johnathan Stewart.

I dont understand how Seattle is not interested in Shockey, there is no one in the draft at his level, or ever will be. This really shows that Holmgren does not have anymore say in the Seattle organization otherwise he would be on there radar. Shockey never cause off the field problems he is all about winning thats just what seattle needs on offensive a guy with passion there is no one outside of hasselback on the offense that shows that fire inside. Made the deal seattle give up that 1st round pick for Shockey.

Please, someone take this head case out of our locker room. It's obvious how desperate Seattle fans are. You guys have no clue what your wishing for. He hasn't played a full season since he got here. I'll say one thing about the guy though, at training camp he signs autographs 3 times more than most of the other players. He is good to the young fans. To bad he's not that way with his QB and the rest of the team.

Of course they're not going to trade for Shockey. That would make too much sense. I wonder why they've never wone a Superbowl? Shockey's contract is hefty, but you got to spend money to make money.

From a giant fans perspective, Shockey should be used like Witten or Winslow but coughlin will never use him like that. I'd hate to lose him but it would be beneficial to both the giants and who aquires him if he were traded. The giants can get something for him and clear up some cap room and if the new teams uses him right he could easily be a top 5 TE in this league.

I t's funny how when they had a chance to draft Shockey they traded down and drafted Jerramy Stevens 4 or 5 picks later and look how well that panned out.
