Defensive end Shaun Ellis(notes) will be suspended for the New York Jets' season opener against the Houston Texans on Sept. 13 for his arrest last November for marijuana possession, according to a report in the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger.
The Jets fined Ellis an indisclosed amount after the incident, in which Ellis was stopped by police for speeding near the team's practice facility and later cited for having less than 50 grams of marijuana.
The veteran led New York with eight sacks last season.

Everyone talks about Sanchez and Clemens, Clemens and Sanchez, but until the article I read yesterday, no one has mentioned the fact that we have the AFC rushing leader from last year (Jones) and the versatile slasher in Washington, but now the Jets have added Shonn Green to pound the ball inside. If Sanchez can just stay out of turnover trouble and complete a few passes for more than 20 yards, the running game will open up. And besides that, we have a defense I think comparable to the 2000 Ravens when they had Trent Dilfer at QB and beat (crushed) the Giants in the SB due to FIVE turnovers. Every year as a Jets fan I get my hopes up and every year I get let down. This year my hopes are not sky high, but I sure am excited to see the "new" Rex Jets. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!!!!
