Defensive end Shaun Ellis(notes) will be suspended for the New York Jets' season opener against the Houston Texans on Sept. 13 for his arrest last November for marijuana possession, according to a report in the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger.

The Jets fined Ellis an indisclosed amount after the incident, in which Ellis was stopped by police for speeding near the team's practice facility and later cited for having less than 50 grams of marijuana.

The veteran led New York with eight sacks last season.

Shut up Lamont. I expect the Jets to make the playoffs this season, Rex will turn this team into a defensive powerhouse. I don't see them taking the whole thing, unless if Sanchez has a miracle season. GO JETS!

If things click, they could make it to the AFC Championship game. With their defense and backfield they are contenders. Don't forget the lines. It takes the pressure off Sanchez. Clements should be laying the groundwork for an assistant coaching position, maybe in college ball.

i think they'll be better then they would have been last year had they not had farve but its crazy to say AFC championship game, because there's teams like oh idk Pittsburgh, New England, and Tennese, the Kansas City cheifs are more likely to make it to the AFC championship game in my opionion

Cant see why everyones down on the Jets, they are easily the second best team in the division, and despite having a rookie QB and horrible talent at WR, are probably the deepest team at every other position (in the division). This team is improved from last year, and the only thing that was really holding them back was Favre awful play. They will definitely be on the cusp to make the playoffs, from there they always have a chance look at Arizona.

In Jersey whether you get caught with .01 grams or 49 grams its the same "Under 50 grams charge." Ridiculous if you ask me, a lot worse going on out there. Like people shooting themselves in the leg with their OWN gun!!
Everyone talks about Sanchez and Clemens, Clemens and Sanchez, but until the article I read yesterday, no one has mentioned the fact that we have the AFC rushing leader from last year (Jones) and the versatile slasher in Washington, but now the Jets have added Shonn Green to pound the ball inside. If Sanchez can just stay out of turnover trouble and complete a few passes for more than 20 yards, the running game will open up. And besides that, we have a defense I think comparable to the 2000 Ravens when they had Trent Dilfer at QB and beat (crushed) the Giants in the SB due to FIVE turnovers. Every year as a Jets fan I get my hopes up and every year I get let down. This year my hopes are not sky high, but I sure am excited to see the "new" Rex Jets. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!!!!

that should be the same as a dirty test as far as im concerned 4 game suspension. and also should carry the same result of alot more testing and why not some time in jail aswell . quit giving players a free pass national felons league . oh thats right without nfl theyd all be in jail.

southern a dirty test is a dirty test and rewarded by suspenion in my books and theyd get the most is 1st timers a suspension and second be lifetime and no chance at reentering the nfl. they could go sell drugs on the corner who would give a shiot.
