The New Orleans Saints selected running back Mark Ingram with the 28th pick in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday night, an indicator, according to Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole, that Reggie Bush's(notes) days with the team are numbered.
Bush seems to agree, since he tweeted "It's been fun New Orleans" Thursday evening after Ingram was selected.
Bush is due $11.8 million this season and "has so far declined to take a pay cut when the subject was broached before the NFL lockout began," according to Cole.
While Bush played a big part in helping the Saints win a Super Bowl in 2009, he was also consistently injured. Cole notes that he "played in only 60 of 80 regular-season games and missed eight games with a broken leg last season." Bush rushed 524 times for 2,090 yards and caught 294 passes for 2,142 yards over five seasons, scoring 29 touchdowns.
