As the Baltimore Ravens begins their search for a replacement for fired Brian Billick the candidate who would be the frontrunner for the job is the one nobody has heard from yet.

The Ravens admit that former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher is the man they'd love to have. Only Cowher hasn't said whether he'd be interested or not. Cowher did tell representatives of the Atlanta Falcons he wanted to stay retired for at least one more year.

A spokesman for Octagon sports and entertainment agency, which represents Cowher, said he thinks the former Pittsburgh Steelers coach hasn't changed his stance about coaching in 2008.

I highly doubt that Cowher would coach a team that the folks in Pittsburgh fondly refer to as the Jailbirds. He's way too much of a class act for an organization like Baltimore's. My bets are that he'll be coaching somewhere in the south in 2009, whether it be Carolina, Atlanta, or somewhere else.

That is whay happened in college basketball with Slick Pitino going from Ky. to arch rival louisville. He is hated , you do not ever leave a great team and then go to the most hated team.

Bill Cowher loves the Steelers and the Rooneys even though he's no longer their coach. He would never go to an arch-rival and have to play against the Steelers.
Bill is worth more bucks than the Rooneys could afford - and he's got a Super Bowl ring by God! He's worth his weight in gold. When he comes out of retirement it will be in a big market for a big salary, in the NFC.
I wish him all the best. Thanks for many great years in Pittsburgh, Coach!

Fact is none of you know what is going to happen. Also funny how Pittsburgh has so much disdain for Baltimore but your residents keep relocating here and elswhere in the country thanks to that pathetic, backwoods culture and economy you have up there.

I would hope that after he retired, (cowher) that if were to come back he would go back to the steelers, I guess if he was unsure about retirement he should of just stayed on with the steelers.

Why would he want to go to Baltimore ..with the players (thugs) they have there it would be 4-5 years of rebuilding and cleaning house.... he doesnt want the headaches.

He would be great fit for the ravens. he is defense minded and the ravens are one of the best. people in pittsburgh would be very angry but the rooneys should have paid the man what he was worth.

Nobody relocates to Baltimore unless they have a death wish.
But, back on topic. I hope Cowher goes to Baltimore. It would be a pleasure to watch him in that oh-so self destructive front office. Cowher is no friend of Pittsburgh. One Superbowl in 15 years... and that was followed by the worst year of coaching ever witnessed in Pittsburgh. Cowher has shot his load. Whoever picks him up will be sorely disappointed.

He better not got to the ravens. That is a step down from the Steelers. why join a team that is in turmoil and lacks the self discipline they should have. I would hope he would go to either Carolina, Miami, or Seattle wouldn't be bad, except they have their next coach being primed.
