The Oakland Raiders have added a sixth quarterback to their roster — journeyman Charlie Frye — according to Raiderbeat.com.
Frye, 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, played for the Seattle Seahawks last season as a backup to Matt Hasselbeck(notes) and Seneca Wallace(notes).
Frye, 27, worked out for the Raiders in March but wasn't offered a contract at the time. He joins starter JaMarcus Russell(notes), backup Jeff Garcia(notes), Bruce Gradkowski(notes), Andrew Walter(notes) and Danny Southwick on the roster, according to the report.
Raiderbeat.com believes Frye's signing is yet another strong signal that Walter's days are numbered wearing a silver-and-black uniform. Walter is in the final year of his contract with the Raiders and has made it clear that he isn't happy being kept around any longer.
Walter hasn't attended any offseason workouts other than the mandatory mini camp in early May. Signing Frye makes it more likely that the Raiders have had enough with Walter's attitude and are about to dump him, assuming they can't find a team willing to trade for him, according to the report.
