Plaxico getting rough welcome to jail

“PlaxicoAfter 15 minutes on Rikers Island, it apparently looked like former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress(notes) had already received enough punishment for his gun-wielding infraction, according to the New York Post.

The word is that Burress got a rough welcome when he finally got to jail yesterday. Who knows what he was expecting but prisoners apparently let him have it when he showed up, yelling names at him and informing him in delightful terms of their distaste for the Giants.

One guard noted that Burress was "depressed": "He was trying to keep to himself, but everyone was yelling at him."

Another guard said, "These people got nothing. What else are they gonna do?"

Guess Burress will think twice about carrying a gun into a nightclub next time or at least be able to find it in his pants if he does. Welcome to the next two year of your life, Plax.

bubba might want to bend him over but burress is still 6'5 and in football shape. bubba might have his hands full with burress( no pun intended) lol! of course burress got a mouthful( no pun intended again) when he came into prison. burress had it made and because of a stupid( beyond stupid) mistake, he's in jail with some people thats never made an honest dollar in their lives.but after a few months, and after a few inmates try him. he"ll just be another inmate.

Is he the only one that's ever been depressed when he first entered prison? I doubt it, so what is the big news here again?

The only thing Plax needs to keep on his mind is wondering if he needs jam or jelly?
You know there will be some tossing of the salad going on. Regardless of height/weight, that's what happens in Prison.
The only advice I have for Plax is:
    1) Go get a copy of the Koran
    2) Convert to Islam
    3) Keep your booty tight and your back against the wall, at all times.
All I'm wondering is if he'll decide to change his name to some crazy Arab name when he gets out the joint!

Dante Stallworth killed a person while driving drunk versus Burress shoting himself in the leg. How is Stallworth not sharing the same jail cell as Burress?

Plax should be punished for his stupidity.
But he is getting totally shafted here. Come on, Stallworth kills a guy while driving drunk, spends 30 in the clink, and is now chilling at home. Plax shoots himself in the leg and has to spend TWO YEARS at one of the most notorious prisons in the United States. Something is not right.

I don’t think he belongs in prison for the whole two years for what he did. Getting two years for carrying a hand gun is a bit ridiculous. He should have the right to carry and protect himself. Was he an idiot for shooting himself and obviously not knowing how to handle a gun, yes but two years in a prison for it is a bit harsh? I could have understood a 6 to 9 month sentence and probation. Which if he keeps to himself and behaves he will get an early release in that time anyway

6'-5", and in football shape.....LOL....it doesn't make a damned bit of difference. He could be 10' tall and in Marine Corps shape and the boys are still gonna tear him a new a*shole. Anyone who's been to the joint knows they don't come at you one at a time. If Burress becomes a target (and he is) then he's gonna get that a*s ripped...end of story. My advise to him is to watch out who he thinks his friends are and don't "f" with the nation. Football player or not, the nation still hates your guts and they run the joint, cause they got the drugs. Did my time, speaking from experience.

Though I wouldn't want to wish jail time on anyone, I think its a great lesson to be learned by not just Joe Q Public, but athletes, movie stars and famous people alike. One would think that professional teams have some sort of class, lecture or whatever regarding this subject. I just read where Delonte West the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers point guard got caught with three guns(including a shotgun) while riding a motorcycle. I mean where you going and what are you planing to do with three guns? Is it a thug wannabe thing or is this type of protection truly warranted? Either way you wanna play -your gonna pay.

First of all let me say the bubba joke was not funny. We all make mistakes and this case shows how are justice system is a joke. If you had to leave your family and go to a place where they have killers , rapist and all kind of people of that nature how would that sound to you? Breaking the law is one thing but to go to a place where you also could be killed! Laws need to be changed up there cause this crime doesn't fit the punishment. How the world loved him when he caught that ball in the in zone and how the world loved to hear how he fell from fame. I will pray for this young man because he broke the law yes in deed but the law he broke was carrying a gun to protect himself. Not to harm anyone. He's rich and famous. Rest in peace Sean Taylor. He didnt have a gun . You have to be a target to understand. I could talk about this for an hour. This is really sad and I pray he can make it. Lets stop being so neg about everything. Or at least go ask donte stallworth how did he hit and kill that poor man and get 30 days in jail.

and the diference with stalworth is he probably paid millions to that family. sad situation that it is money talks. burress tried to fight the system stallworth maned up on the spot. and there is probably a lot of stuff that we dont really know exactly what did happen. they say he walked across the street not in a ped cross walk. but he was drunk and thats what got him.

Even a blind man knows when the sun didn't shine fair. The governor needs to commute this sentence after six months-two years is a year and a half too long unless he had a prior record.

Nothing going to happen to Plaxico in jail. He will be kept from the general population and when he is out will have a guard watching over him. New York prison system couldn't afford anything to happen to him. So he will spending alot of time alone in his cell. I'm even surprise he was sent to Rikers

"Guess Burress will think twice about carrying a gun into a nightclub next time or at least be able to find it in his pants if he does. Welcome to the next two year of your life, Plax. "
That's a pretty asinine thing to say. This guy didn't hurt anyone. He shouldn't be in prision. I don't give a rats @$$ about NY or their retarded laws. I'm not a Plax fan or a Giants fan, but I hate to see someone go to jail because a local government feels that it can blatently disregard the 2nd A. Plax was well within his constitutional rights regardless of what NY law states.
Plax's big mistake wasn't carrying a gun. His big mistake was residing in a retarded state that would be better suited somewhere in Europe instead of in a free society that the U.S. is supposed to afford.
I honestly hope more New Yorkers step up and reclaim their constitutional rights.
Mark, I gladly raise my middle finger to your stupid remark.

This is not the example needing to be set. Much greater offences are done every day by famous people and they get a slap on the wrist. He should have hired body gaurds but instead he tried to protect himself. The week before a teammate was held up at gun point by his own driver! I don't think what he did was right but when a drug dealers never see the inside a cell this simply seems stupid. I hope all of you sitting behind you computers ragging on this man never go to jail. Your laughing at a 6'6" 230lb man saying take it in the rear, he seems to be a bit more likely to defend himself than you.

Andrew h, you're a perfect example of the ignorant person who doesn't understand the criminal justice system in this country. It's a national disgrace, but the average, run-of-the-mill, joe-6-pack, riff-raff doofus just doesn't get it.
