NFL - Sports Rumors

“AdaliusNew England Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas(notes) didn't get the fun of being part of the tromping the Pats gave the Tennessee Titans on Sunday because he was mysteriously on the inactive list. That was the first time he's been a healthy scratch since he was a rookie with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2000.

The two-time Pro Bowler wasn't even at the stadium on Sunday and he wasn't hurt. It appears the Patriots are trying to trade the fella, according to the Boston Globe.

NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders told viewers of NFL Game Day on Sunday that Thomas was upset and was going to work it out with his coach.

But head coach Bill Belichick basically said Thomas didn't play because his performance was lacking, which has got to hurt when you're the same guy who signed a $35 million deal two years ago.

Some how I never thought that this guy and Belicheck would get along. when he brought back Junior Seau; I thought something was strange. Now i know he plans on not playing Thomas anymore.

I know that Belicheck thinks highly of Thomas I just wonder if Billicheck thinks that he doesn't fit in the Pats scheme which seems kinda odd considering the Pats let go of Banta-Cain. Other the Mayo and Seau I really don't know of the other linebackers but one does have to wonder who's going to pick up Thomas' contract ? I would be suprised if the Thomas trade does happen but hey, I was surprised when Seymour was traded,

Guyton and Mayo have the MLB spots for years to come, they have Woods and Thomas on the outside. Thomas has been the worst of the 4 so far, Crable is on IR again so I have no clue who will step in Thomas' place since old man Junior plays the middle too - unless Bill moves Guyton to outside - you never know with this guy.

PRC- most of your posts are usually railing against the Pats but I think that last one is really on the Titans as your right -the Titans never showed up. I think your slipping-LOL.

Yeah, the Titans didn't show up in that game, so as much as it pains me I have to sort of agree with PRC. But here's another take on the possible trade of Thomas. Look at how many of the guys from the 07 defense that couldn't stop Goober Manning in the last minutes of the SB are gone: Harrison (didn't knock the ball away from Tyree), Samuel (let the interception go through his hands), Hobbs (let Texico Burress walk into the end zone) , Seymour (who never pressured Goober), Vrabel (nothing much), Bruschi (who did get old), and now Thomas (who didn't wrap up the sack he had on Goober on the Tyree play) is possibly on the list. Could be that 07 defensive group will be pretty much cleaned out if he's traded. It seems like an awfully drastic overhaul of the defense. Maybe Bill just couldn't stand to look at them any more.

If they are going to trade to Seattle, I'd rather they come back with Lofa Tatupu. Moses son is a heck of an instinctual player at linebacker, I think he'd be the guy that would fill the void left by Bruschi's retirement.

Derrick Burgess started at OLB in AD's place on sunday. I doubt we'll see any player come back in a trade for Thomas... its all about the draft picks. Would be nice to fill a need tho... Bill is taking a big risk with linebacker depth with Seau being an integral part... heck, Mayo has already missed time this year. Do we believe that Woods and Guyton will hold up -- health and skill -- to a full season yet? Rob Ninkovich? An injury to any of these guys would be a Bad Thing.

I hear the ravens still need to replace bart scott while bart is a better player thomas could help rejuvinate the team after that vikings game..If he can play DE the Lions defensive line is really beat up right now we had a gaurd playing defensive tackle in greenbay you might get him for a 3rd round pick...if he is a scwartz guy he's good a evaluating defensive players and with talk of kampman getting moved thomas trade value maybe lower
