With Tom Brady's absence from the New England Patriots' injury report this week, what some might consider the second-most famous 56-game streak in sports history comes to a quiet end.

The franchise quarterback's name does not appear on the injury report for the first time since the opening game of the 2005 season. Brady had been listed as "probable" with a right shoulder injury every game for four seasons, including 48 regular-season and eight playoff games. It is the clearest sign yet that the 2007 NFL Most Valuable Player is ready for Sunday's season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. Brady, who has been dealing with a sore right foot, did not take a snap during the Patriots' four preseason games, but had full participation in practice yesterday.

Of course, Brady's most important streak remains alive: He has made 127 straight regular season and playoff starts, the third-longest among quarterbacks, trailing Brett Favre (272) and Peyton Manning (174).

Brady is likely to be without one of his targets Sunday: tight end Benjamin Watson, who had 36 catches for 389 yards and six touchdowns a season ago, is listed as doubtful with a knee injury.

Of course he's not hurt...this is Patriots mind games at their finest! Fake the other teams out to think they'll have an advantage, or a slight chance of a win, then crush them with Brady Bombing it to Moss for TD's against a weak secondary.
    Oh BTW....First!

I'm sure the other teams were expecting Brady to start anyway. Stopping him? Now that's a different question!

This as profoundly meaningful as, well, having Brady ON the list for 56 games...
Apparently B.B. understands now that the press and oddsmakers have no sense of humor.

The cheating thing has not tainted the "dynasty" in the least. I admire the fact that he did what he could to give his team the best chance to win. This is football. It's war. The Pats had the best team in history last year and were one win away from immortality. The pats dynasty is alive and well. The cheating thing was blown way out of control by a bunch of pats haters. Belicheck is one of those guys that you love to have on your team...but hate to play against him.
    P.S. I am not a pats fan.

Is Randy going to wear his alternate black funeral jersey this year? He was burried earlier in Feb this year.

Best team in history? Yeah, they couldn't even win the Superbowl. Their defense won't hold up this year. Yes, it's always nice to have a coach who is dishonest and cheats. One who doesn't have class or a personality. Just who I want leading my team.

I do agree jim. It did appear that Brady dodged going to the pro bowl. Especially Moss.
I'm not sure how well the o-line will be for them this year. Not to mention their defense has a lot of question marks. I'm, going to say they lose three or four games. Look out for SanDiego. Every year they seem to get a little bit better.

Are the Patriots even fielding a team this year after being embarrassed by the Giants?

Jim is big... LOL! Funny name man. Anyway, we saw that when faced with major pressure, not even Brady could withstand a very good pass rush. He's used to having so much time to throw the ball. Maybe defenses will blitz more this year. Hell, Kurt Warner could put up the same numbers or better than Brady if he had New England's line. Look at what he did in Arizona with a decent line. In the second halfe of the season last year, Warner was the best qb in football. He's still got it. It's a shame that he can't go to a more competitive team.

Brady should have good chemistry with Welker this year. Teams will be forced to double Moss more this year.
Randy didn't do much in the playoffs last year when he faced good defenses. I'm surprised to see that he didn't make more of an impact. All of the great ones do. A lot of talent, but hasn't been money when it's counted.

Evidently Marc. Better watch out! They are going to hand out the beatdowns this year! Yeah, just like they beat down the Giants in the Superbowl last year. People need to wake up and realize that the defense will be a problem for them down the road. They have the easiest schedule in NFL history, so how can they not succeed?

I do. The best team in history does not lose to another team in the Superbowl. They were caught cheating and that's why they lost a first round pick in the draft. At the end of the year, the defense will not be as good. It's an opinion for now, but the stats will be there. Bill B's known for his lack of personality. Even a lot fans know this. Let's see, he failed to shake Mangini's hand at the end of the game and runs off the field at the end of the Superbowl like a poor sport. Your turn big jim, tell me why New England is the best team, tell me why Bill B has class. Also, tell me how he is not dishonest and did not cheat.
