NFL - Sports Rumors

“JakeThe Carolina Panthers got pummeled 38-10 by the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday and the play of quarterback Jake Delhomme(notes) was no help: He threw four interceptions and fumbled the ball once, which he earned him the first benching he's ever had in his seven NFL seasons in Carolina.

Head coach John Fox said the offensive line didn't do a great job protecting Delhomme and that he's sticking with the boy. Delhomme will apparently be the starting quarterback next weekend when the Panthers face the Atlanta Falcons, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Still, word is starting to circulate that the Panthers might look into bringing in a free-agent quarterback just in case anything happens with Delhomme. Some are lobbying for former Oakland Raiders QB Jeff Garcia(notes) to get signed by the team, according to Bleacher Report.

Delhomme is horrible. He is the luckiest guy in the NFL though b/c on any other team he would be a back-up. He must be blackmailing the management or something to stay in Carolina.

2 words... Tarvaris Jackson... Think about it! hes mobile, he has a good arm, he can run, he can hand of to jon stewart or deangelo, or pass deep to steve smith, or he can run it himself, plus the vikings have been talking about "testing the market" for tarvaris, this is a perfect opportunity for him!

Garcia makes a lot of sense. With Carolina's run game and a pretty good defence all they need is someone to not make a lot of mistakes. Garcia would be fine for them.

I woulda taken Brett Farve over Dellhome...that performance was pathetic! He needs to get his head together or get out now! I think they should trade Peppers for a first pick and go after Colt McCoy...just puttin that one out there.

Man what hey need to do is get some depth for that line AND a back up...no QB, even Mr. Wonderful was going to have a great day when linemen are blowing assignments and letting defensive players have a wide open lane to the QB...
The only bright side to that game for me is Philly needs another QB. I feel sorry for poor Donnie boy and all BUUUUUT I am a Dallas fan...so f*&^ em.

Delhomme is so over rated. He has been letting his team down for years and the Eagles game was just another great example of him doing what he does best. Jeff Garcia is a fighter and has proven he can manage a team and put points on the board. Look what he did for Philadelphia. Carolina's contract extention to Delhomme was rediculous and a waist of money. Go and get a real QB before Delhomme costs you yet another waisted year.
