Oakland Raiders cornerback Fabian Washington was arrested for domestic battery Tuesday night in Florida, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Washington, 24, was arrested at the home he shares with his girlfriend in Lakewood Ranch, police spokesman Dave Bristow said. The arrest stemmed from an argument between Washington and his girlfriend that turned physical, according to the police report. Washington denied getting physical with his girlfriend. He was released on his own recognizance, and his arraignment is scheduled for March 25. If convicted of the misdemeanor, Washington could spend "less than a year in jail," Bristow said

"I observed slight red marks on the victim's neck," the arresting officer wrote in the report. Any overt sign of physical abuse is grounds for arrest,'' Bristow said.

Nothing funny about a professional athlete beating a women. The commish needs to crack down on the violence against women thing before there is another Rae Carruth type of incident. Something like a 4 game suspension, full season suspension, "see ya" policy for successive violations.

12~ Joseph how often did your mother get a beating from your father? This is just horrific and should not be tolerated. But then again i do not know what happened in this instance.Any violence towards women is cowardly.I would have nothing to do with a man like that.My man is loving and sensative.

Raider Wrok whuts up homey? i mean you are right look.at the Randy Moss incident. But i wil be the first to tell you.that Violence against women is very bad.Now there are cases where women have fabricated stuff.but that doesnt excuse the thousands of women across the US who are being battered that you dont hear about.this issue should be taken seriously and looked at.if FW was found of any wrong doing he should be punished accordingly. And if the GF is found to be fabricating the issue she should be held raccountable also.
