Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt had some kind of rough offseason as his extremely acrimonious and very public divorce from former Dodgers CEO Jamie McCourt has given the City of Angels a new dose of what's love got to do with it.
What's become clear, though, in divorce papers is that Frank McCourt has been in talks with the NFL to have a pro football team playing in what's now the parking lot of Dodger Stadium, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"There's no question L.A. should have an NFL franchise," McCourt said. "It's probably the worst-kept secret in Los Angeles that the NFL would love to be at Chavez Ravine. Other than that, I can't comment right now."
The billion-dollar question is whether McCourt will have enough dough once the divorce case is over to be involved in such a massive financial transaction. Of course, it's not even clear if he'll still be owning the Dodgers when the case comes to close.
And you can be sure the folks in L.A. suburb Industry, who have been working to get a stadium built there, aren't going to be huge fans of this plan, either.
