Two years ago, then-Atlanta Falcons coach Jim Mora sealed his fate in Atlanta by saying in a radio interview that he'd bolt the Falcons (as Bobby Petrino would do a year later) if Mora had the opportunity to become the head coach at the University of Washington, his alma mater.

Mora was later fired by the Falcons, apparently due in part to his surprisingly candid display of disloyalty to his employer.

And so he landed as an assistant coach with the Seahawks. With head coach Mike Holmgren deciding to make 2008 his final year with the team, the Seahawks entered into an agreement earlier this year that will make Mora the head coach after Holmgren goes. (An exception to the Rooney Rule permits such arrangements, even though we think that such arrangements circumvent the spirit of the rule.)

But now the Washington job is open, and rumors are flying that Mora is getting the job, according to Profootballtalk.com.

Mora had clear his feelings for the position in 2006, and with the struggles of the 2-10 Seahawks and his membership on the current coaching staff, there's a chance that Mora would instantly be on the hot seat from Day One on the job.

I thought it was the Seahags. Maybe Mora should move on, tha Hags seem to be totally stagnant with this coaching staff anyway. The US job market is weak, but there's gonna' be a lot of coaching positions open .

i dont care whether he ends up at UW or as the seahawks head coach, but wherever he goes he better improve the team cuz both teams have alot of work to do to get back to prominence.

Too bad he did'nt stick it out with the Seahawks. He would have been able to sign his friend Michael Vick for cheap and then go on to win super bowls.

And the Rooney Rule circumvents the spirit of equality. Please spare the preachy editorial comments.

He should look at Notre Dame. Weis will probly get fired cuz he's too fat now to coach.
They got a lot of talent and with someone who is less fat they will be great.
    Joking.....
Washington will be a great job. He was a pro coach and many pro coaches have found success in college so I think he should go there.
He probably will stay with the hawks cuz he is the 'coach in waiting' there. They still have a lot of talent there, they were bitten by injuries bad so I think the Hawks will be good next year, at least on paper

its a good thing the seahawks are sucking this year, because they will get a top 5 pick in the draft most likely, so mora will coach the seahawks not the sorry huskies, it never hurts to draft a francise player

That foul Maggott dog killing sociopath Vick couldnt win a superbowl if it involved fighting dogs. He couldnt read defenses and so Dan Reeves simplified the play book. Mora had the same situation with Greg Knapp. They were fired and Vick still sucked. He ran off Petrino, who didnt qualify as a coach anyway and PETA assaulted the Falcons. They picketted the dome and flew banners over the practice field that read Dog Killers. His greatest thing he did for Atlanta, was get arrested. That got rid of him and the great Thomas Dimitroff and Mike Smith brought us Matt Ryan. Mora was too player friendly he was buddy buddy with them. It made him weak and he was run over by big ego guys. He is a second or third rate defensive coordinator at best, I guess you have figured that out this season. He will flop as a head coach anywhere he goes. I am a Falcons fan and I approve this. LOL

Please go to UW Mora. You can't run the Seattle defense. How could you run an entire team?!?!?

Mora would probably fare better in college than in the pros. Some guys just aren't cut out for the pro game (Rick Pitino and the NBA come to mind). You have to manage players as well as pros with egos which is no easy task.
As for Vick and Mora or Vick and Reeves or Vick and Petrino or Vick and Vince Lombardi....Mike Vick is a loser. His only ability was to scramble out of the pocket, and run for massive gains. His arm sucked, and he couldn't get past that weakness. Know why the Falcons receivers are having a good year this year?!? They have a passing qb who can hit them in stride. A fast defense always shut the Falcons down when Vick was there (Tampa Bay laid that blueprint).

Let Mora take the blasted Huskies. I think his type of coach works better in the college ranks anyway. Me, I think the Hawks should get someone who isn't a re-tread or a bit suspect as far as company loyalty goes. Rex Ryan, anyone?
