McFadden visits Raiders

Many so-called NFL draft experts project Arkansas running back Darren McFadden to go to the Raiders with the fourth pick. McFadden's visit with Raiders coaches and front-office people Monday fuels such speculation according to the San Jose Mercury News.

It's important to note that McFadden won't be the last player to meet with the Raiders before April 26, when the two-day draft begins. Raiders Coach Lane Kiffin downplayed the prospect of the team taking McFadden, given the presence of running backs Justin Fargas, LaMont Jordan, Dominic Rhodes and Michael Bush on the roster.

"Running back is really not a need for us," Kiffin said last week.

If Raiders pick McFadden, they will need to release or trade Jordan and Rhodes and have Fargas, McFadden and Bush

The raiders have shown they care about the here and now, not the future this off season. If he is available they will take him. I will say if this all pans out for them my Broncos are in trouble this year.

McFadden has been going around visiting almost every top pick team in the draft..........Considering team needs I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped to the lower end of the 1st round............He's a solid RB but its just not worth the high draft pick and guranteed money for an dime a dozen RB when their are excellent chances to pick up a blue chip offensive linemen or star defensive lineman....therefore teams might let McFadden slip and then trade down to pick him up for cheap...........Al Davis needs to play the draft shrewdly.......pick up Glenn Dorsey let McFadden fall in the 1st round, trade down a pick and draft McFadden for cheap

I don't think the $500,000 the Raiders have left in cap space is going to be enough for a third round pick let alone Mcfadden.

why would the raiders waste a high pick on a RB when fargas proved last year he can be a feature back... this years draft is PACKED with RB's... get some depth at a position you need and pick up a back in the 2nd round...

The Raiders better juggle some cap quick if they are interested in Mcfadden....heres an idea, dump that thug Russell.Seriously this team needs to dump Rhoades and Fargas like Vaughn T said. They shot their load on Hall and Walker, they are running out of cash and they want to talk McFadden?? im confused??

I agree with Tim M (#9). I see them trading out of that spot to someone...possibly carolina since they have been eyeballing Matt Ryan if he is still avail at 4. Not sure...should make for an interesting draft this year.

First of all.....Davis will not tradeout of that spot. Period! Never has and never will. D.Mac would be the most explosive Raiders running back since Napoleon Kaufmen, the most talented since Bo Jackson, with added bonus of having better hands as a reciever out of the backfield. I myself hope they take a D-lineman.But Big Al will take D.Mac if he is still at #4.

Just count on the Raiders doing something crazy or their draft pick sitting out.....or they will pick a bust. They should go with the safe pick and land someone to help stop the run. Last I checked McFadden can run, but does nothing to help stop the run. You have Fargas and you just paid him....a run stopper gives you a SOLID defense across the board. The best two CBs will just be overpaid back-ups if you don't stop the run.

RFFL if you guys can snag D Mac then you should. Its not often you will see a D Tackle take it to the house.D Mac can do that anytime he touches the ball.i say get him.
9 Al has his ways.he has been doing it along time.wheeling and dealing.he will find a way to make it happen.Al will make it work.

I honestly think McFadden will end up being a FALCON and Howie's kid, Chris, will end up being a RAIDER instead. . .like father, like son?

Nah, the raiders DON'T need another running back, OR another player for the D-side of the ball.
Methinks Ole Man Al should be sending that first round pick along with L.Jordan (maybe with F. Washington) to Cinncy for The Chad.
This would clear out our over stocked backfield, and what with all the cash that Al's been spending, it's not like he's got too much left for signing bonus' for some rookie who may or may not be bust.
While I think that D. Mac would fit in very well with what Kiffin's got going (or trying to have going) with the O-lne, i still think that the Raiders need more at the WR spot.

Never say never for trading out. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys would love to add McFadden to their roster. When you have two minds like Jerry Jones and Al Davis wanting the same thing...anything could happen.

The Raiders don't need D.Mac.With our zone blocking scheme, most any runningback can be successful. D-line is priority. Our weakness is at would d-line.Ellis or Dorsey would be the pick if they are still there. They are both beasts! We have 4th, a 6th and 2 7th rounders and it's very common to find a good DT. and good ZBS OL deep in the draft.

I'm still under the impression that help at the WR spot, which can be found in lower rounds of the draft as well.
Losing Porter hurt the WR position, in my opinion, as he was the last best reciever to be 'home brewed', then lost. I'm sure he will excell on his new club, but I am still thinking that no pick up in the off season has yet to match the player skills that Porter has.

look at it 2 ways take D Mac unload 1 or 2 running backs get something back for them or pick a line man
when was the last time you saw a back that could run without good blocking, jim brown, john riggins, jim nance, cookie gilcrest they are few and far between....stock the line up so anyone can run behind it or the
D line so nobody can run thru it
