Dallas Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he spent time Monday on the phone with league officials discussing the legal block by Miami quarterback Trent Green that sent defensive tackle Travis Johnson flying into the air. Kubiak said would like to see the competition committee make such a block illegal.

Green's helmet hit Johnson's knee infuriating Johnson, who was flagged for taunting the motionless Green on the field.

"It's created a situation I think we need to look at, too,'' Kubian said. "Maybe something is done down the road about those types of plays taking place behind the line of scrimmage.''

It's the Houston, Houston Texans not the Dallas Texans. This isn't the AFL. (for those that don't know, before the Chiefs moved to KC in the 60's in the American Football League, they were the Dallas Texans.)
As far as the block, as long as they don't go at the knee from the side, I think it's fair game. When you get your head down there by the legs, you always have potential to get knocked the heck out. Trent tried to make a play for his team, he got injured. It's sad to see but he could have prevented that.

You've got to be kidding. I saw the play. It was an accident. Trent made the block, to protect his player, at the time, I thought it was a good hit/block (until I noticed Tren not moving)...It was then I saw Mr. Johnson make jesters, toward a motionless Mr. Green. That is what the Flag was for. It showed very little CLASS and if Houston doesn't win another game, it would be fine by me. I would like the league to look into a suspension of Johnson for his act. Interesting note, was the huddle of players in prayer (Dolphins), when it was discovered there was an injury...what did the Houston players do? If Mr. Johnson go hurt as a result, Kubiak would have something to talk about...if anything, the Fins have cause to suggest changes.

Miami needs to do something here. If they don't beat Cleveland next week, they could go 0-17.
    Never liked Green anyways...Try Beck...

oh boy, here we go again... they should just put the QB's in a cage 10 feet behind the line and if it's touched its a sack.
anyway, a qb should not block...ever.... pass it or hand it off and run out of the way with your hands up so everyone knows you're the qb and leaves you alone....maybe put them in red jerseys like in practice.

When someone goes at your knee's it is a natural reaction to get defensive. If it was a D-lineman who took the knee's of a QB out "blocking" on a interception the reaction here would be completely different. Personally I could care less that Trent Green got hurt, he put himself in the position to end up like that. Had he used proper form and leverage none of us would be discussing this matter.

i feel that the quarterbacks are a little to protected already, you can hardly breathe on them now and they know that as they go into NBA acting mode. to protect the quarterback as he is throwing an illegal block is ridiculous to say the least. i agree that johnson should have been flagged for taunting, but to suggest a suspension is a joke. if any other player in the NFL had thrown that block other than a quarterback they would have been fined by the league. all penalties should apply to all players (ALL PLAYERS). it was very unfortunate for trent green, but somehow very fortunate for johnson as his season is not over at the same time.

The hit was not a bad hit, it was a bad block. Your taughgt early in football not to lead with your head when going in to make a block or make a tackle. Green is a QB, so he doesn't practice these things, but hey they can happen at any given time, let the players play!

there's nothing wrong with blocking low, but leading with your helmet -- especially if you're already seeing double like green -- is a weenie move. i say kudos to kubiak for keeping trent green's monumentally stupid play in the limelight. i only wish he actually snapped his neck and then flopped around the field like a beached dolphin.

Any one that wants to argue that, T. Green put on a clean block please! He hit the guy in the knee. And the guy wasn't going to catch Ginn. To heavy and slow. It was a cheap shot. So Dahuck2003 what I'm getting from you is that if Johnson Tour his ACL or something that could end his career is worth it huh!. Wow!! that has to be the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Hope some one does it to you in a pick up game...
