Chad Johnson's offseason of discontent could be headed for its first showdown Monday with the Cincinnati Bengals according to the Cincinati Enquirer. And the Bengals wide receiver, in a series of Los Angeles-based television appearances, said he would not participate in the team's offseason strength and conditioning program beginning Monday.

"I will not be there," he said during a late afternoon stop at Current TV and Current.com. "There are a lot of issues that need to be dealt with. Nothing has changed."

The Bengals will begin their offseason strength and conditioning program at Paul Brown Stadium. It is not mandatory, though Johnson — who has been a regular attendee every year since drafted by the Bengals in 2001 — can earn a $250,000 workout bonus by participating. Johnson might have dropped a hint about what he intends to do, when he said Tuesday morning in an interview on ESPN2, "You know, my offseason for football hasn't started yet. I haven't started training yet. I am still somewhat enjoying the offseason. You know, I don't start working out on my own until April."

Why is it there's always at least one WR that has contract issues each offseason?

I think Chad would look good with a star on his helmet. Bobby Carpenter, Roy Williams, a 1st and 2nd round pick. Everyone is happy.

The eagles are sitting back on him right now but the union is going to do the same thing and bail him out like t.o. and ocho will be wearing GREEN did you not get the talk the green and it is not about the money. wake up everybody the superbowl is in sight and philly is going to gamble because they want to show t.o. up for the statement he said look where philly is compared to where I am................he is coming in july baby, the real deal and the team slogan for the year is stay healthy we will be there and playing in the superbowl.....

I have always been a Chad fan! My son loves watching him play and got his jersey this past Christmas. I hate to see this attitude but did like seeing him take some of the blame in the interview, though I thought it was not very heartfelt. If he is going to be a cancer I hate to say this but maybe Cincy should trade him. TJ, Chris Henry, and a good draft pick in WR could be sufficient and not much of a headache.

Johnson already said he wants to play for Gruden and the Bucs. Bucs have the cap room and he is worth a second round pick.

take him, please. someone. i'll drive him to philly, washington, chicago, canada, japan, russia, or where ever else he wants to go. he says he wants to win, but when he gets hit and fumbles the ball he sits on the ground and pouts. he says he wants to win, but he gets into fights with coaches in the locker room. he says he wants to win, but he runs the wrong route on plays that should be a touchdown. i'll take your second round pick.

i say get rid of him. but if he can't handle the press in cincy how is he going to handle it in washington or philly, the problem we had (in cincy) was on d and the o-line, and when things weren't going good chad shut down and pouted. he's a great player, but he lacks mental maturity. He said he wanted the spotlight but when things aren't going well teh biggest names get the most scrutiny, and he can't handle it. you can't brag and dance and make signs and predictions if your losing, if you do people see you as a joke. If you watched all 16 games you know Carson was off, but he was being Hit WAY too much, and chad was also running wrong routes and not running hard. Cincy has a ton of problems, chad and his attitude may be on the top of that list, but the more he talks the less the bengals can get for him and the less likely they will ship him out. Paul brown is all about the bottom line and he's shown year after year that he doesn't care about what the fans or the players want...and who made up this mock draft...if the bengals draft offense in the 1st or second, then they are as dumb as everyone thinks they are. WE need a pass rusher and protection of carson. DON"T DRAFT A RB!!!!!!

Chad is a great football player, my favorite player i would hate to see him go CHAD what about yo fans the people in da nati, look at all these people mouths droolin to get him, I don't think Chad is going anywere i hope not, We've got a good team players need to have patience we are a linebacker and Dt away from dominating the AFC North, two years ago we were in the playoffs CHAD unless its Manning nobody is better than Carson Palmer throwing that rock, Real soldiers stand strong in adversity.

I agree with you on the SKINS needing a potent reciever like Chad Johnson! Everyone was against Moss and Owens, but both of them gave their teams first round byes! I'll take him in Washington we couldn't get Hackett so why not upgrade.
Skins will win NFC East regardless, Chad Johnson is a easier way to the Super Bowl. Makes you think of the 1980-90 Posse.

It's so funny. Chad will not say he wants to be traded. "Parcells, call me baby." was one of things he said on camera. He has hinted at it but I think he just wants a winning team. Even Palmer has complained about the Bengals. So what's up with the Bengals?
