New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie(notes) ended up with a bruised lung Sunday during a 34-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders, according to the New York Daily News.

The team identified Cromartie's injury as rib-related but a source to the Daily News says it is a bruised lung. "Cromartie's timetable for recovery is about pain tolerance at this point," the source told the Daily News.

The paper theorizes that the injury came late in the third quarter when Cromartie "bobbled" a kickoff, "kicked it forward and unsuccessfully tried to scoop it up." The botched play led to a possession for the Raiders at the Jets' 12 and an eventual score.

The 27-year-old returned two interceptions for 63 yards last weekend and was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
