Jeff George, who hasn't thrown a pass in an NFL game since 2001, is confident he can upgrade the team's 30th-ranked pass offense.

After veterans Kelly Holcomb and Brooks Bollinger combined for only 182 passing yards against Philadelphia on Sunday, George called Vikings play-by-play announcer Paul Allen out of the blue and asked him to gauge the team's interest, specifically that of coach Brad Childress, in the 39-year-old free-agent quarterback.

"I follow the teams that I think need quarterbacks," George said. "I look around the league at the quarterbacks, and I wonder why I'm still not playing."

Hey Jeff, don't you understand that you simply cannot be a part of any team's future! Just like Vinny Testaverde can only come in for a game or two and that's it.

He tried this last year, and the Raiders gave him a shot and said no. If he couldn't make the 3rd string on that team, or even compete long enough to be in the running more than 3 days, with Brooks, Tuasosopo, and Walter, how is he supposed to start on this one?

So George thinks he can come in and help the team. Yeah that is all they need a head case at QB. If he really wanted to play for Viking then he should have never left in the first place to Washington, then we would not have had to endure the Moss in Oakland era!!!

Hey bringing in an old QB midway into the season has worked out for the vikes before, see randall cunningham and warren moon. but this one is a little bit of a stretch, t-jack is horrible next year we need to draft a new QB with our first pick and get a decent veteran WR in FA for him to throw to. our draft looked good this year AP is an animal and sidney rice looks promising

Christ,Maybe they can see if Tommy Kramer will come out of retirement.Hell im sure he can still hand the ball of 45 times to Peterson.Ahmad still looks fit enough to suit up & give them another target at receiver too.If George does come back hopefully he'll sport that god awfull beard under his chinstrap again!
