Houston Texans quarterback Sage Rosenfels understands the reality of the situation. He is a seven-year NFL veteran who just turned 30. He is still waiting to become an NFL starter. He is still waiting for an opportunity to compete for a starting job according to the Houston Chronicle.
There were indications this offseason that his wait might have ended. Minnesota offered the Texans a third-round draft pick for Rosenfels. But the Texans wanted at least a second-round pick. After all, Rosenfels was instrumental in salvaging a season in which the Texans were ravaged with injuries. He appeared in nine games for the injured Matt Schaub and won four of his five starts.
"It's been an interesting offseason," said Rosenfels, who was participating in the team's offseason conditioning program at Reliant Park on Thursday. "As a quarterback, you'd like to have a chance to make a team your own. And this is Matt's team. And I understand that. There's obviously some frustration there.''

The Texans must think a lot of Rosenfel's if they want minimum #2 pick for him!

But -- he couldn't break into the starting lineup with Miami, couldn't beat out Brian Griese. Who are we kidding here?

A 2nd rounder is fair for Sage / or probably a 3rd & 5th rounder. He knows the WC offense and would be a very big help to whichever team would give him a shot at being the fulltime starting QB.
