NFL - Sports Rumors

“MikeIt's been long rumored that Mike Holmgren wants to be back with an NFL team next season. It's now becoming clear which one he'd like to be with. Not surprisingly, he's most desirous of one of the teams that he formerly coached: the Seattle Seahawks. According to National Football Post, Holmgren still has a great relationship with team owner Paul Allen.

Current Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell has a contract that runs out at the end of this season and there is no indication that he's getting an extension so Holmgren may be in luck as far as coming back to the team he loves. This time he'd be looking at the field from a big executive suite, though, instead of right on the sidelines. He apparently sees himself as sort of a Bill Parcells kind of character.

If they don't call him, there are plenty of other teams that would love to have Holmgren aboard. Until he gets the call, Holmgren can spend his time hanging out with his wife, who he apparently proposed to when they were 15, and his four granddaughters.

    He said like 3 years ago that he'd be taking 1 year off. Why are people surprised when he wants to come back after the 1 year?

    When that happens, Seattle will shoot to the top it that division. That should have been his role on this team two years before he left coaching.................

    @13
    Don't know the history of the Browns and if they were ever more than an "average" team in the past (I assume so because all teams have their ups and downs) but I'd love to see the Browns make it to the top. I'm sure Mike can lead them there if they were to pick him up.

    If he did come back I wonder if he'd want to keep Mora.

    Bring big Mike back! He deserves to be back with the 'Hawks, especially in the front office! We need some classic 'strategry' when it comes to personnel, the draft, free agency, etc. Injuries have devestated this once powerful team, and we need to find the right pieces of the puzzle to be able to withstand any kind of injury dilemma, especially at the offensive line. So much for a run oriented offense, too, the 'Hawks need to stay true to Homgren's West Coast O style, which can effectively completment Mora's punishing defense as seen during the two rare shutouts this year.
