Brian Dawkins' season of frustration continued Sunday when he was forced to leave the Philadelphia Eagles' 38-23 victory over the New Orleans Saints with a sprained foot late in the first half.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said Dawkins will undergo an MRI examination today. It appears Dawkins will miss his sixth game of the year when the Eagles close out their season Sunday against the Buffalo Bills at Lincoln Financial Field.

The foot injury was the latest in a season filled with injuries for Dawkins. He missed much of the preseason with Achilles tendinitis, then suffered a serious neck injury in the second game of the regular season. The neck injury cost Dawkins five games.

My favorite player's career, not just season, seems to be coming to an end. I hope they prepare for life without the heart of their D. You're the man B Dawk!!!!

Dawkins totally changed the way the position of safety is played. He is a first ballot candidate for the hall. That said, yes the eagles don't usually keep you after you hit 30 years old, but I think he will be in philly for at least another 2 years, with an option for a third. He's not usually this injury plagued and i'm sure he'll get another chance to crush people.

Yeah everybody knows about those mean-spirited Eagles fans.
They're the ones that were throwing snowballs and batteries at Baby Jesus back in the manger in Bethlehem.

Next year we will get back to where we need.... If Dawkins returns he will show the new fresh blood how to be and I see Philly whooping some booty with or without Mcdrab. Go EAGLES!

The Eagles won't be the same without him, he is truly the heart of the Dfense. My memory is not so short term that I have forgotten the last 6 years of sitting at the top of the NFC. THey are still a good team, but w/o Dawk it will be tough to reach greatness again.

Hopefully, Dawkins isn't done for good in the league. Arguably one of the best FS in the business. Any team that has him can't be overlooked. When Dogpound is in the secondary, you've gotta show some respect.

Sean Taylor one of the greatest safeties ever? DOn't want to speak ill of the dead, but seriously, I don't think so. He had maybe one good yr, and the rest were filled w/legal trouble. He had the tools to become one of the best, but he finished far from it. Can't just grant someone a title like that. If that were the case, then Gavin Floyd is the next Curt Schilling, and Shawn Bradley is more dominant that Wilt Chamberlain. Or at least, weren't they supposed to be???? Don't think so guy.

I refuse to believe that this is the end for Dawk. Not like this. I think the entire Eagles team can rebound next year. The talent is there and they have alot of doubters to prove wrong.
When Dawk does call it quits I hope and pray it's in a Eagles uniform and once he retires he's added to the coaching staff. Even when this guy wasn't on the field this season he was seen motivating guys on the sidelines and was one of our biggest cheerleaders. Will be a sad day for the Eagles franchise when he calls it quits.

For those saying Eagles fans don't respect Dawk...you guys have no clue what you are talking about. Dawkins is one of the most loved Eagles ever and currently the moved loved guy on that team. He's the heart and soul of the team.
