NFL - Sports Rumors

Former Tennessee Titans General Manager Floyd Reese supposedly turned in his resignation to the Tennessee Titans after 21 years back in January of 2007 but his wife, Sally, is now saying that Reese never wanted to leave and that his actual resignation letter was written by team Senior Executive Vice President Steve Underwood, according to the Nashville City Paper.

She claims that Reese, who is now a senior advisor for the New England Patriots, was given no notice of his firing and wasn't allowed to clean out his own office. Reese also supposedly saved head coach Jeff Fisher's job twice while he was with the team. Mrs. Reese's outburst came because she was visiting Nashville and heard what she thought were erroneous claims on a sports-radio station. Her husband was on a plane to London so he had no idea that it was all going on.

Fisher has apparently claimed that Reese kept him out of the draft process as well, but Sally Reese said that wasn't true, either. She said that her husband had actually been planning to draft Devin Hester(notes) but Fisher wanted LenDale White(notes). The Titans eventually drafted White and missed out on the very talented Hester.

You can be sure the Reeses greatly enjoyed New England's 59-0 romp last Sunday, though. "Payback's a bitch," she said. "Sunday I was hoping they'd run it to 100."

One thing Mrs. Reese was certain about: Her husband wasn't going to be happy that she had spilled the beans.

This lady is absolutely retarded. IF anything, her husband should have been worried about saving his own job. Now he is a puppet senior adviser to the Patriots because you know Bill Belicheck isn't listening to a guy who got fired by the Titans.

k9, I'm just saying that a senior adviser for the Patriots is a cake job. I'm sure this guy is a dinosaur and because he has been in the league for so long, the Patriots felt sorry for him and gave him a desk job with limited duties. It's like the cop who got shot and severely injured in the line of duty but still wants to work on the force. I mean he use to be the General Manager but now is barely and adviser. I bet he has trouble tying his shoes in the morning and his wife does it for him.

BrianB...He has a reputation as a first rate talent evaluater. If so, the Hester story might be real.
I doubt that Kraft or BB feel sorry for anybody or anything. that might be a little harsh but you get my point.
Pit and the Vikes should be a good one.

I think his treatment by the Titans is the reason you got rung up. This hardly reflects the idea of a desk job with unimportant duties. I think he should be proud and grateful that his wife stuck up for him. As far as Belichek not listening to him- I wonder how they came up with the idea of 59 points? 59 points- WOW

Hmm, am I the only one who sees no great difference between Devin Hester and LenDale White? Neither of them are "great" players, yes Hester is a great return man but that can be minimized... Just like White's a goal-line presence and that can be minimized.
They're both "role" players and nothing more...why even throw that out there?

wow check the calendar mr reese it might be "that time" if nothin else comes out of this atleast devin hester can be glad that jeff fisher made that pick LOL..I like Jeff fisher I think if he got fired he'd have 5 jobs lined up that day but I gotta wonder if he wanted lendale white why dosen't he get the ball he's a touchdown vulchar in the endzone. I keep telling people this the titans problem isn't the headcoach most of it is because jim Scwartz in gone they we good when haynesworth was hurt the only common thats gone is the defensive coordinator and suprise the Lions found the abillity to tackle in the front 7

The Profiler - That was a great post! Took the words right out of my mouth. It's funny how last season the Titans were in the top 3 in defense, this year they have the same players (except haynesworth) but picked up javon hayes and they are close to last. I also think it's Schwartz is gone.

He may be "a great talent evalueator", but he doesn't know how to keep that talent. Every year the Titans would release their top players includeing future Hall of Famers Eddie George and the Late Great Steve McNair.
