Eagles sign LeSean McCoy to 4-year deal

The Philadelphia Eagles may not have Brian Westbrook(notes) back yet, but they have secured the services of his projected back-up according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The report indicated the Eagles signed McCoy, a second-round draft choice, was signed to a four-year deal Monday. Terms were not disclosed.

The 20-year-old McCoy, the 53d pick overall, became the first second-rounder to agree to a contract. The Birds have come to terms with seven of their eight picks — all except first-round selection Jeremy Maclin(notes), a wide receiver out of Missouri.

why is westbrook done? it isn't like he lost a step last year, he had an ankle injury,he didn't blow his knee out.
jacobs has missed twice as many games the last two years then westbrook.
talk about injury prone, now he has to carry more of the load, jacobs could be done by the middle of the season,he's to tall and can't get low enough to stop those leg hits he takes.
mccoy will be worked in slowly and westbrook will hand over the starting job in two years.
eagles had a great off season and look like the team to beat in the east,
they don't seem to rebiuld, they just keep on keeping on.
sign mcclin and watch this kid return the ball, until he works his way into the starting line up.
    future looks bright in philly.

McCoy is a good solid back that will fit well in that system ... He made an impact right away at Pitt taking the starting job from Stephens-Howling and will probably do the same in Philly if Westbrook can't stay health. I hate to see him leave Pitt but I think it truely would have been a waste for him to stay at the collegiate level. Good Luck Sean.

Westbrook and McCoy could be a great 1-2 punch...........especially with the speed they have at WR and the improvements to the offensive line.

I'll take half a season with west "BK " over anyone else. He great to watch. It's not like we are playing the game and even if so I am sure OSUMARINE2 would get schooled just like the rest of us!!!!!!!!!!!! I will take a few games into the post season over sitting on the couch with a losing team. I see a pattern here and I like it.

I think Mcoy is gonna be a great compliment for Westbrook. But Westbrook is still a great RB.

Lets stop thinking inside of the box with having either westbrook or McCoy and lets think of the possibilities with them playing at the same time. The playbook just blew up and defenses will not be able to cover every possibility. Line them both up in the backfield or one at wide and lets show what the West Coast offense is meant to be Philly style!

    Pepperless Eagles:
The Carolina Panthers have won the staring content with Julius Peppers. But now they'll have to pay up.
Peppers gave up on his wishes to be traded, signing the team's one-year franchise tender of $16.683 million on Wednesday, thus agreeing to play for the team for another season.

I like all the clowns here who KNOW McCoy is going to be great. Bet they rode the Ryan Leaf wagon too. Let's wait and see. If you all were so good at predicting talent you would be working for the NFL.

Carolina can have Peppers for that kind of money. The guy gets killed against the run now. Just watch some film of him getting blown of the line of scrimmage in running situations. I'm not saying the guy isn't good, just overrated.
