NFL - Sports Rumors

“BrianThe Philadelphia Eagles could really use running back Brian Westbrook(notes) back in the lineup. He's missed two games due to a concussion he suffered on Oct. 26. And now it's looking like he might miss this week's game due to ankle pain, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Coach Andy Reid said yesterday that the surgically repaired right ankle of Westbrook was proving to be bothersome and it's the reason he didn't practice at the end of last week. But Westbrook has had some "work done," on the ankle since then, according to Reid, so it should be feeling a little better. He wouldn't exactly way what "work done" meant, but one guesses it wasn't plastic surgery.

If Westbrook doesn't practice tomorrow, it is likely due to the ankle and not the concussion, Reid said. Any way you slice it, Westbrook is the definition of "banged up" and there's a pretty good chance that he could miss another game for the Eagles.

Good thing Reid had the foresight to draft McCoy. If #36 is banged up, I say just keep him out until he's completely healthy.

McCoy looks great, let Westbrook heal and then you have him for a the final run where McCoy will be worn out. The Eagles need to keep running the ball to control the clock and I agree with El Becko on the play calling, play to our strengths of who is in the lineup.

Do they even need him? lol. Last couple of years he has been their go-to guy but now the Eagle have a bunch of offensive weapons that can ease the pressure off of Westbrook. One week won't hurt them.

While the Eagles do have a ton of offense weapons, Westbrook is very good at helping give McNabb more time and then splitting out for a screen. Half the time McNabb can get the ball without hitting him the the foot or making him jump eight feet to reach it. I like McNabb, but why is he sad bad at throwing to guys within 5-10 yards of him? He can make the deep throw, but if they are close he is ridiculously inaccurate and doesn't lead them. Sounds like I'm trashing the Eagles, but I'm really trying to understand McNabb's close throw woes. Westbrook is awesome, but Mccoy is definitely the back for the future. GO BIRDS!!

as the others said, they need Westbrook for blocking. Nobody can pick up the block like BWest can and than split for the screen pass. Rest him if need be, Brrds will need a healthy Westbrook down the stretch.

Wat up IBG, I was bout to be ignant and say leave him on the bench, But lookin at the last couple games your right they especially miss him on blitz pickup which will be a neccesity now that teams are peggin you guys as one dimensional. Or you can use Mr. Weaver more extensively he isnt the same weapon in the passing game but for SHORT yardage and blocking i think he's up for it.

well, well, well, them Boys are back!
My bro, who HATES, the Boys made more excuses than I can repeat. He had the audacity to say the Eagles won because West was out! I said, ok help me understand something, the eagles beat NY without west, you said they didn't need him, so I said, shouldn't they have beat the boys without west, seeing that he considering both NY/Philly are better than dallas. You know what his answer was,
Well, I don't know how to answer that! I said,
well, well, well, them boys are back! He then jumped on NO's bandwagon...

Cowgirl fans…one week fire the head coach, beach Roy Williams, season is over... Now they are back. Back from where? Win a playoff game. You lost the VERY FIRST GAME AT the New Arlington, TX social welfare stadium now know as “Giant Stadium” until at least next year... plus the GMEN beat the girls with TWO rookie WR starting. After your two week wonder Austin what weapons do you have on Offensive? So, get back in your cave, make it to the PLAYOFF and win one!!

Please throw more screen passes to McCoy...he's got the speed to take it to the house over Westbrook. Throw 6-7 screen passes a game and I guarantee he breaks one for at least 20 yards.

Great running back. But too injury prone for my taste. He kind of has Marshall Faulk's skill set. He blocks, catches passes, runs great. Hes an all around back, but hes made of glass. Kinda sad.

The Birds do need Westbrook back if they want to make the play offs. The Cowboys are doing what they need to be doing and that is take it one game at a time. Packers are next to get beat at home by the Cowboys. Sundays night game was good. I was there in Phily sitting at the 50 yard line. I wish that Westbrook would have played on sunday was healthy becuase he is a good football player and I like to see the Cowboys beating the Birds, Skins, G-men when both teams are healthy. Lets GO COWBOYS.

let us worry about our in-house issues. Let me suggest to you that we have won playoff games, we have won SB's, (5 to date, more to come), every team goes through a rebuilding process, it's just when the boys do it, its national news, when your team does it, who cares. This is where you big problem lies, the boys will always be revelant, we are America's team, always will be. There was a time, when the cowboys went 5-11 three years in a row, do you know how many games we have blacked out? None! Do you know that we were still on MNF/SNF? I would only say, don't hate my team more than you love your own!!!!!!!!!
