Dungy lands studio job with NBC

Industry sources report former NFL coach Tony Dungy has signed a deal to become a member of NBC's Sunday "Football Night In America" pregame team. The New York Daily News reports Jerome Bettis will not return to the NBC's NFL studio.

Dungy, who coached the Colts from 2002-2008 (his tenure included a win over Chicago in Super Bowl XLI) is slated to join Bob Costas, Keith Olbermann, Dan Patrick, and Tiki Barber(notes), all who will be returning to "FNIA."

NBC Sports boss Dick Ebersol has scheduled a conference call Wednesday where he likely will introduce Dungy, who also coached Tampa Bay (1996-2001), as the newest cast member. Sources speculated Rodney Harrison(notes), the former Patriots defensive back, will also join the "FNIA" team.

Are you kidding me? You are gona keep tiki barber over Jerome Bettis?! Tiki is the most horrible football analyst out there! I hate that man. His eye brows, him smiling at every single thing plus he doesn't know crap about football. Thats why as soon as he left the Giants won a superbowl. He's a horrible analyst and a worst football player. I hope you enjoy visiting the bathroom at the football hall of fame because the only way your seeing yourself in it is through a mens room mirror you loser.

Great to hear, a class act on and off the field. A great defensive mind. And more importantly--someone who will bring a great view as a player and a successful coach (like cowher) who can give great input into gameplans.

I don't know PRC, Dungy may make Bettis look exciting. He has the football knowledge, but his delivery may re define monotone.

Interesting hire, as Dungy gives me the impression as a great football mind, but the first impression is that he doesn't have the personality to be on-screen. Maybe the skill will develop and he can find a niche on screen.

Dung is a classy as they come, but I agree that I just can't see him on camera like that - he just seems so uncomfortable... add in Chucky on Mon Nights and Collinsworth just going on and on about zippy... the NFL is better to watch with the sound off...
