Edgerrin James

Don't be shocked if Edgerrin James is wearing a different uniform next season according to the East Valley Tribune. His salary cap number will be $5 million for the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals won't dump James if they don't have a capable replacement. They saw how well that worked out with Pete Kendall.

But if Arizona can find a quality running back in the draft, moving James for salary cap relief would make sense. The Indianapolis Colts did it, and they won a Super Bowl with his replacement, Joseph Addai.

i know they have to focus on the defense but if they dump james and trade up, they could try to get mcfadden, who looks like he could be all-world.

He seems to like the offense? What with him getting 3.8 yards a carry. Yeah Im sure he loves it there, getting about .5 less every carry from when he was with the Colts. Must really love not finding the endzone in that offense as well.

Edgerrin's performance comparison to his participation with Indy has been a joke, yet AZ has never been able to provide Edge with the Offensive line that made him a hero in Colts town.
This is a move that shoulda/coulda/woulda made the Cards a better team last season had they proactively used their first round pick on Adrian Petersen. Yeh, AP had his ups and downs this season, yet he has the insight to go to the outside and capability to effectively read a defense. What has Edge done -- Student body left, Student body right -- blah, blah, blah....
Whisenhunt can teach D McFadden to effectively be the best RB in the league with patience and hard-nosed coaching. It will be nice to see Coach Ken lead the team in '08 to a 10-6/11-5 season and maybe work their way into a late-season wild card spot.

haha seems like every single year we're talking about the cards going 10-6/11-5.
every year 7-9/8-8. why would next year be any different? and theres a chance their running game may be even less effective than it is now? trade up in the draft and take jake long.

    "please go to the dolphins"
Why would you send him to the dolphins? They have Ronnie Brown. Last I checked, he was dominating the NFL before he got hurt this season. IMO, James should end up in Detroit, Chicago, or Seattle. Three teams who desperately need some running game lovin'.

Edge is a solid running back with a few decnt years left in his gas tank. He had a decent season, but how would anybody really fair behind the cardinals O-line. There known more for pass blocking then run blocking. I'd keep Edge as a starter for another year and in this years draft move up and get a quality RB that can be groomed in a year to take his place.

Why not take him, he a Brown together and a good draft pick, that could restart the Dolphins, plus Brown is coming back from a similar knee injury James had, he could help him.

The Edge needs to go to the Texans......He's a good back with a lot of life still in him....he was gently used back in Indy so he doesn't have the extensive wear and tear most backs have....If the Texans can't get a RB in the draft....I see Edge going to Houston while they dump Ahman Green and keep Ron Dayne along with Edge

on the long list of things detroit lions need, another running back is not one of them. he would just sit here and waste away like kevin jones. the edge would be good right where he is, how many az running backs have gotten over 1,000 yards recently? adrien murrell remember him in 1998? the only thing that will happen if edge is shipped off somewhere else is, is that he would have the same result that jamal lewis did in cleveland this year. az makes the same stupid decisions that the lions make, they focus on skilled positions and consistently let their offensive line and defense positions perform at a poor to mediocre level every year.

My Colts could use him back as a backup to Addai. I'm sure he wouldn't mind winning a ring or two before he retires!

signing Edge in AZ never made sense. They don't want to run the ball and don't have the line to do it anyway.
