DeSean Jackson met Terrell Owens, however briefly, at a promotional appearance in Los Angeles last weekend. Jackson ended up meeting Freddie Mitchell at a workout a few months back, also in LA. Jackson wants to be that playmaking wideout Philadelphia Eagles fans covet, but he said Tuesday he does not want to be T.O. —- at least not in the sense of "talking about your teammates'' - and he does not want to be Freddie, the guy Jackson has heard "talked his way out of the league.''

There are pitfalls to be avoided here, concerns to be addressed, as Jackson begins his Eagles career a month after being drafted in the second round, 49th overall, out of Cal. And they don't all have to do with the now-famous Scouting Combine revelation that he is 5-10, 169, instead of Cal's 6-foot, 178 listing.

Jackson has an ego, isn't shy about touting his own abilities. When his college team flopped spectacularly the second half of last season, from 5-0 to 6-6, stalling his bid for the Heisman, he acknowledges he grew frustrated, and talked about wanting the ball.

The boy can fly. He is awfully small though. He will definately have to be a perimeter receiver. I just can't see him going over the middle.

If the Eagles can get another receiver to add to their line up like a Chad Johnson or a Houshmenzadah, I truly Believe they can make the Superbowl again based on if McNabb gets hurt again or not..

hes got speed , weve needed a KR guy for awhile now plus we need WR help too, lets see how he does, i think he could end up being a under the rador pick that ends up paying nicely for the eagles.

Comic Snoop.....living in chicgao for the last couple of years, Hester may argure that. He has no hands either, but speed kills the punt'ick teams. Lets see what the kid can do on the feild ( and what he doesn't do off) before we judge for or against him. TO was a quiet nobody his first couple years in San Fran...Favre was a go-nowhere back up.

Look at Steve Smith, he is 5'10 and a great WR when not injured, You guys shoot him down before even giving him a chance just wait and see, as an eagles fan I liked T.O. and I liked Freddie Mitchell both were very talented but egos took away from that.

comic_snoop: They haven't paid a nickel for him yet. The fact that he dropped down to the 49th pick will probably give him a starting salary less than what he may actually be worth.
William C: Name the last return specialist the Eagles had. Brian Mitchell was at the end of his career when they got him. Westbrook got too good to risk being used as a return specialist. Drafting Jackson fills a huge void for the Eagles.

I agree with 12, that small stuff should be thrown out the window. Harrison, Hester, Smith, Galloway, S. Moss, are all under 6'1. Do we ever hear critics talk about their height? No, so why start now. More Fuel for his ego perhaps; it might actually Jackson make a better Eagle.

To be honest i think hes gonna be a good addition to the eagles, bein from california myself and bein a fan of CAL and seein him play,i think hes gonna do well regardless of his height.Theres loads of players that are small and awesome in the NFL they most likely are gonna bulk him up...i guess are questions will be answered on the comein up season

Desean Jackson will be a BUST! Freddie Mitchell could at least reach the tiolet without a booster seat, and TO should get more accolades and less negative nancy press...

No matter what, no matter who they have, the Eagles will find out that they need new coaching or forget creating an air attack outside of Westbrook because it's clear that the curretn coaches can't handle WR egos.
