The Miami Dolphins on Friday acquired tight end Anthony Fasano and inside linebacker Akin Ayodele from the Dallas Cowboys for a fourth-round draft pick, the 100th pick overall, in this weekend's draft. The deal had been confirmed by multiple sources, though neither team had confirmed it late Friday night according to the Palm Beach Post.
Fasano was drafted 53rd overall out of Notre Dame in 2006 when Dolphins football operations executive Bill Parcells and General Manager Jeff Ireland were with the Cowboys. Fasano had 14 catches for 143 yards and a touchdown last season. He is coming off reconstructive shoulder surgery.
Ayodele spent four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, then joined Cowboys as a free agent in 2006. The Cowboys were loaded at linebacker, especially after signing Zach Thomas, who was released by the Dolphins after 12 seasons. Ayodele started all except two games in his two seasons with Dallas. He had 95 tackles last season.

The theory seems to be that the Cowboys are clearing up cap room so they can sign some other starting caliber player. Akin was a starter, but some feel that Zach Thomas was going to unseat him. And, of course, there is no way Fasano beats out Witten. So, basically it is a couple of quality, high paid backups in exchange for clearing cap space so they can sign a big name starter like maybe a Chad Johnson, Roy Williams etc. And they moved up 26 spots in the 4th round to boot, which means they got Pacman for free. And if Pac doesn't work out they even negotiated insurance against that with the Titans.
So far, I like it.

Has anyone watched Roy Williams tackle these past couple of years? NO WAY! He is NOT a LB. He is too small and he no longer tackles well. He does not wrap up and he now looks to avoid contact. Most of those long runs got last year against this defense were because Roy was out of position and didn't fill the gap. He is too small to be a LB. If Roy can't turn his performance around this year and start playing safety like a true pro-bowler should, then he will be a very expensive back up after this year, or Jones might decide to cut his losses and let him go. He can't do that this year because he gets paid so much that it is cheaper to actually keep him then let him go due to the accelerated signing bonus.

"Touchdown" Tony Curtis had 3 catches for 18 yds and 3 TD
(won't mind seeing what he has to offer at the 2nd tight end spot)
In 16 games Akin Ayodele had 57 tackles 0 sacks
In 5 games Zach Thomas had 52 tackles 1 sack 2 passes defended I agree with the 2nd half of 22...the point of the trade was to free up cap space for other big moves and to regain there lost 4th round pick (moving up was a bonus)
