Brady Quinn

Browns coach Romeo Crennel said today that Brady Quinn is still his starting quarterback and that he's not on a short leash according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

"It's not an issue because he's the quarterback,'' said Crennel. "We like the things he's shown us. We need to help him more going down the stretch. If we can do that, we might be able to win a game.''

Crennel reiterated that he benched Quinn in the third quarter of Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Texans because of some misreads and because of his fractured right index finger.

"Because of some misreads and my knowledge of the finger situation, I decided to make the change,'' said Crennel. "If Derek Anderson had provided a spark, Brady Quinn would still be the starting quarterback.''

He said he told Quinn he had not lost his job, but that Quinn perhaps didn't fully grasp it because of his frustration.

What a great game from a Texans fan prospective. Whats the deal with Braylon Edwards. This guy dropped everything thrown his way. It was like the Browns were in the Christmas spirit with all their screw-ups. Derek Anderson looks like crap. How much is that guy making? I dont know if Cower wants to take over a train wreck. Good luck with that.

What the hec is going on in the front office? Is anyone in charge? Great job, guys. It only took the team 24 hours to roll out the rationale for pulling Quinn. Here is the irony. That's about the same level of decisiveness they exhibit on the field, in their play calling, defensive sets, etc...this team shows no professional ability to adapt, improvise or overcome the unexpected after the first kickoff.
Yes, yes, we know the "buck stops" with romeo. But, what does that mean, exactly. Will he step aside or won't he?
Somebody, somewhere, knows something...but he ain't talking. Bring on Billy C. and pay him a big fat salary from the $$$ renegotiated with Mr. Edwards at end of season.
Oh...and Go Browns. But somebody tell me what happens. I can't watch anymore...

Yeah, the reversal of fortunes from 2007 (10-6) to 2008 (4-?) are brutal. Keep in mind the strength of schedule though. Look back at their opponents last year - alot weaker than who they play this year.

There needs to be some major changes take place in Cleveland. Coaching, defensive, and offensive players need to be evaluated and maybe sent packing. I, for one, never liked Crennel in the first place. His 3-4 will not work in Cleveland. Not in this division with the set of linebackers that we have. Even after we went 10-6 last year, we still had to "out-score" opponents to do so. I can count 4 losses last year that should have been wins, I saw their defense weakening from the beginning of last year, and this year, with injuries and lack of depth and personnel, the defense is just a sieve. And I understand McDonald is young, but something's gotta give (besides him). And is everyone else on the team that bad that you can't give someone else a shot? Next, you gotta look at Edwards. He can be productive, but hate to say it, anymore you can't depend on him as a key play maker. Even watching the game Sunday you could see it's not even the tough catches he misses. There were several that hit him right in the numbers. You can't get rid of him though, because you won't get anything out of him at this point. I hate to say it but you either gotta bench him or stick it out and hope for the best. I also want to say "Shame on you!" to the fans that were at the game Sunday that booed Phil Dawson after missing that Field Goal. Realistically, he is pretty much our offense, and always comes through in clutch situations. He's a classy guy and a great kicker with alot of heart and determination. Believe me, I know first hand the frustration that comes with being a Cleveland fan, and how disgusting that game was, but you all had no right in booing Dawson for missing one attempt. Lord knows we make him kick so many a year he is bound to miss one occasionally.

Crennel, pack your things and get out. You are not wanted. You do not have the MARBLES to lead this team. You do not know what clock management is. And appearently you have no idea how to motivate this team. You should have benched Braylon "BUTTERFINGERS" Edwards a long, long time ago. It is not always the Quarterbacks fault things are going sour. Butterfingers has 17 drops this season. I think this is a very low number. Maybe there was only 17 balls that hit him in both hands. How many balls have been off his finger tips, how many bounced off his facemask, how many have been close to him and how many times has he not read the Defense right and ran the wrong route? I would say that number would be closer to 50. This is unacceptable. Why is it that the fans can see this but A FAT TUB OFF LARD with a multi-million dollar contract can't. Oh I know you do not have the complete understanding of how Offense works because you are a Defensive Guru. But wait, if you were as good of a Defensive guy as your resume says, then why is it that the Defensive is worse than the Offense. Face it Romeo, you are in over your fat head and you have no idea how to manage a game. I, and the rest of the Cleveland Fans have had enough. I was at the game against the Texans and I watched tens of thousands of Fans leave before the game had ended. These weren't the fair weather fans, these were the Fans who have Bled Orange and Brown since 1946 or birth. We are tired of your excuses, the only acceptable thing you can do is leave.

Let's try sitting Edwards and giving either quarterback someone who can catch (ie Cribbs) or maybe someone who can coach.

switching QBs is a mistake.. that is how you lose football games right there.. you need consistency to win.. and when you have a different QB behind center every game it makes it pretty tough.. Crennel is gone gone gone... same with alot of coaches in this league.. if your playing to kick field goals and to be conservative then don't coach.. winners go for it.. winners want to win.. i hate conservative coaching

I can see Crennel needs some work on his motivational speaking. Here's the quote, We need to help him more going down the stretch. If we can do that, we might be able to win a game.''. A game? how about going for 2 wins, maybe even 3. No let's shoot for one.

Here are a few things I notice week in and week out Shaun Rogers draws at least a double and triple team every snap so that means 2 to 3 offensive linemen are tied up leaving them 3 to 5 people to block if you add in their RB. If we are running a 3-4 defense thats seven in the BOX seeing this we should have at a minimum 1 LB free to blitz every down and when we really need pressure 2 plus a corner or a safety..... lol thats what Buffalo did to us Marcus Stroud would tie up 2 of our linemen and Kiwanuka would come straight up the middle FREE to hit Quinn....watch Steelers they send Casey Hampton up the middle hard and then Blitz Harrison or a MLB all game every game.....so if we are trying the latest craze such as the wildcat why dont we try something that actually will help us out on Defense and more so help us win.
Braylon Edwards looks shell shocked out there look at everytime the camera zooms in on him he looks LOST, get him some motivational counseling...lol or better yet get him hypnotized " the ball is your friend" type stuff.
Things we need from our players to actually be contenders HEART, PRIDE, ENTHUSIASM, WRAP UP TACKLING BY THE LEGS (quit tackling high).
Things we need from our OWNER... active involvment, quit taking our fans money and ignoring the fact our team leadership, managment sucks. Get a fire and brimstone head coach who will not coddle our players, they are pro football players who get paid millions of bucks they need a butt chewing every now and then ....its a privelage not a right you overpaid drama queens. Phil Savage needs to go!!! hire a real defensive coordinator!!!! get all new linebackers ASAP..... like yesterday!!!! go after raiders CB Asomugha HARD this offseason.
Last but not least I believe our LB's would be of best service to ou fans selling hot dogs in the stands!!!!

Maybe Crennel can talk some of the other teams into playing D'backs from Navy and Army since those were the only people Quinn could ever light up...of course none of them are in the NFL but we've all sen what happens when he tries to throw against OSU, USC, LSU and Michigan!

Brady Quinn seems to be playing well. but when you have more than a year and change before you are under center leaves you with alot of time to learn the offense. i wonder how he does next year with the new coaches and schemes.
Poor Derek Andersen. he wont ever start anywhere, again. EVER!!!

Hope da gets traded next season due to the fact that playing for cleveland is nothing but a negative for his career! last season da gave cleveland more to talk about than any player in the recent past! sure he as well as many others had not played as well as they could (sophmore slump)but we know that they can and will play up to their potential as they gell as a team! i will say once more that with another year under his belt da will be a star! brady sucks! with a new coach the browns will be the team of the future! even when struggling da put his team in the possition to win! redskins etc. mark my word if cleveland trades da they will regret it dearly! norm shs oregon #41
