The word on why San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree's(notes) feet are sore is that his new shoes were too tight at practice on June 9. Niners tight end Vernon Davis(notes) is saying that the injury is "far more" than that, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Still, Davis said that if training camp were to get started on time, Crabtree would be ready to go.
The Chronicle notes that the 23-year-old Crabtree went out for only one pass at practice Thursday and then spent time throwing passes to fellow receivers.
Crabtree, who held out until early October in his rookie season of 2009, receiving a six-year, $32 million contract, has played two seasons in the NFL. He has 103 receptions for 1,366 yards and eight touchdowns.
