Bill Cowher hasn't coached in four years, but he's prepared to return to the sideline if the head-coaching job opens with the New York Giants, Houston Texans or Miami Dolphins, a source close to Cowher told ESPN.
Those three teams sit atop the wish list of the former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach who is an analyst for CBS. The source noted that Cowher, who led the Steelers to a Super Bowl title in 2005 and has a career coaching record of 149-90-1, likes these teams because "those markets represent strong ownership with a good talent base."
Cowher has only said publicly that he would listen to offers but would not discuss any specific team.
ESPN notes that Dolphins owner Steve Ross may be the most likely to hire Cowher. He wants to energize his fan base because his team is sitting in the back seat in southern Florida while another team you may have heard of, the Miami Heat, is garnering most of the attention.
