Dave Campo's take on the Dallas Cowboys circus atmosphere hit the bulls-eye.
"The Cowboys always have distractions," Campo said. "That's part of being a Cowboy. If you can't handle those things, you're not going to do well in this organization, really."
Only Jerry Jones can deny that the Pacman Jones drama has the potential to turn into a major distraction. It's up to the Cowboys players to make sure that doesn't happen while they battle for a playoff berth.
"When he comes back, you've got to embrace him,'' said Dallas tight end Jason Witten. "He's a good football player. Hopefully, we keep those distractions as little as possible. But the team's got to stay focused. We can't allow that to be a distraction for us. That's not easy. We all understand that."
The general consensus among the players that talked in the locker room today was they would try not to worry much about Pacman.
"Hopefully he isn't a distraction," Williams said. "I don't know him. We're going to keep on truckin'. We can't let him pull us back. We're going to keep going, and he's going to have to catch up with us."

As for Pacman, this really isn't that big of a story. He will not be much of a factor when he returns. It will take him some time to get back into "playing shape." I'll be happy if he just returns punts and provides depth to the nickel and dime packages. Anything above that is a bonus. I know that the media and haters will jump all over this like it is the anti-christ returning to the Cowboys due to Jerry Jones and Goodell summoning him from the depths of hell. It's actually quite the opposite. Both men realize that Pacman's only chance to change his life is to have football provide the positive reinforcement. This was a mercy call and nothing more. I don't think the Cowboys are going to expect much from him. In fact, I'll wager that both Jerry Jones and Goodell understand that this move will most likely hurt their reputations. But, it also shows that both are willing to make that sacrifice if it means giving Pacman one final chance to save himself. I'm onboard with the move. I don't expect much but I understand why they had to do it. Jerry does care about winning perhaps more than he should but the only thing that trumps this desire is his loyalty to his employees. That loyalty is a private affair and not subject to our scrutiny. There is always more going on behind the scenes than ever reaches the media. I hope Pacman turns it around. I don't expect it, but that doesn't change anything.
