“WadeDallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips can apparently do whatever he wants for the rest of the season and team owner Jerry Jones won't fire him. Jones told the team's fans yesterday on his weekly radio broadcast that Phillips won't be canned this season "under no circumstances," according to the Dallas Morning News.

He wouldn't even been fired if the 'Boys had lost to the pitiful Kansas City Chiefs last weekend. "We've got a chance to get a lot of things done," Jones said. "And we've got a lot of football left to play, and we've got some good people that not only can play it but coach it."
Phillips has a contract that runs out at the end of this season and the team has an option to sign him for 2010, but it's believed that Jones will send Phillips packing at year's end if things don't miraculously turn around.

Jones is apparently finding inspiration from the New York Giants team of two years ago that had a rough start and ended up with an incredible Super Bowl victory against the previously undefeated New England Patriots. Let's just see the Cowboys do that.

He's doing just fine keeping the team just good enough for hope but not nearly good enough to win the division. don't change a thing.

Great news for the Giants!! and eagles and redskins.............ok it may not help out the redskins. I mean this team is awful. A couple of missed tackles away from losing to KC. and that makes Miles Austin God. what a joke.

I'm sick and tired of the horrible play calling, the lack of discipline and overall carefree attitude that Phillips coaching brings to my team. Wade was once a brilliant defensive coordinator, but he's never been a very good headcoach that i can remember. While I don't think changing coaches in midseason would help, it's certainly a headstart for next year.

I dont think bringing in a new coach helps much at this point. If wade fizzles out in the later months like history says he will then get a new coach in early in the off season and let him get his guys for the coaching staff.

Lets blow the rest of the games this year...that way wade will get canned and we can have an early draft pick to bring in Eric Berry and finally bring a real S on the team. Sounds like a solid game plan to me.

He is keeping wade around cuz he knows shanahan wont take the job in md-season, he'll fire him after the season and then hire shanahan. Shanahan may not want to work for this mega-maniacal narcissist but thats what Jones wants to do

If the Boy's even think they have a chance to make the playoffs they need to sure up the secondary and Romo needs to get on track. Jones needs to get and stay healthy and Choice needs to keep getting more touches as long as he keeps putting up the numbers.

Next year will be the cowboys year. With the salary cap gone he can pay ungodly amounts of money to every big free agent to try and buy a superbowl. Next year the cowboys will be to football what the Yankees are to basball. The only other team he will have to watch out for will be the Skins. They like to spend money as well.

you never know with changing head coaches mid season tho (@ Dana D). To change sports for a sec, the Pittsburgh Penguins changed coaches midseason and won the cup (barf puke vomit). Wade's job is definitly on shakey ground, dont believe that JJ foo. didnt he say similar things about TO??

Dallas should be 5-0. The Giants didn't beat them, the Cowboys beat themselves. They had Denver beat and 8 players couldn't tackle 1 WR. And to everyone all excited about Austin Miles, 1 game against a bad team doesn't make him good. Let him show that kind of stuff for a few weeks before you get too excited.

#2 is spot on. Philly & NYG can cheer, Washington is crap regardless. At least the thought of Little Danny Snyder crying in his million dollar booth will keep me warm through the holiday cold.

This Cowboy team is at least a minimum of a year away from seriously contending for a championship. It depsnds on next years draft and F/A signings. The jury is still out on Romo, and Jason Garrett is looking more like a "one hit wonder". Garrett's only good season was 2 years ago. Romo needs to step up and be a leader on offense. The best quarterback and offensive coordinator combinations and the who are extensions of each other. Romo and Garrett are not always on the same page. One is not the extension of the other. They are not looking thru the same game eyes. If they can't see things alike, one may have to go during the off season.
...then the Jerry Jones, team owner, draft expert, ambassidor, and GM. That's another story for a different time!
