Indianapolis Colts assistant coach Ron Meeks will be interviewed a second time for the Washington Redskins' head coaching vacancy tomorrow, league sources said yesterday.

A day after assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams, who was once under consideration to replace Joe Gibbs, left the organization, the Redskins finalized plans for another session with Meeks, who runs the Colts' defense, a source close to the search said.

Jim Fassel appears to be the leading candidate after Washington on Saturday promoted defensive line coach Greg Blache to the top defensive position and hired former Seattle Seahawks assistant Jim Zorn. Blache and Zorn were among Fassel's top choices for those positions. But Blache and Zorn also were among the coaches Meeks would have considered to be his top lieutenants, said sources familiar with the process, and their names were discussed when Meeks first interviewed for more than 10 hours with Snyder and Cerrato the first time.

skins fan since forever. hogs are not coming back! riggins is not coming back! fun bunch is not coming back! the old glory days of pound'em skins ball is over! the skins must change or get past by - wait a minute- we've been pasted by! A NEW DIRECTION AND NEW GAME PLAN IS NEEDED! let's get an offense for the new century. We've got a decent defense. Zorn will put alittle more pep in our step. A younger head coach (I hope) will be in tune with now!

this next year (2008) is going to be another non-playoff year... to much change, another system being put into place again ... and another learning curve .... dan needs to hire a younger coach and go from there to start building this team from the ground up instead of year after year trying to grab all these (once) pro bowl players hoping he can win a super bowl for at most 1 year ! .. instead of trying to build a franchise to win year after year... like the cowboys in the mid 90s ....!! like the 49ers !! , like the colts and the patriots !!

I just hope that Meeks doesn't go to the skins. That like eating off a paper plate compared to the fine china he is used to now.

if the fans want the skins organization to change then what the fans need to do is start hurting Danny boy pocket stop paying those ridiculous ticket and parking prices and luxury suites and right now Danny Boy is holding all the cards the more fans fill up the stadium year after year the more power they are giving to Snyder the skins fans have to force Snyder to change his ways to doing things and the tructure of the front office just like the Chiefs did to the point where lamar hunt gutted his team and hired a CEO to run his team and until the fans force snyder hand nothing is changing with the redskins it's that simple unfortunately in these situations logic thinking is not coming into play with all the fans.

I know that the Rooney rule is important, but there should be some kind of rule against the way that Shyder did Gregg Williams. He was interviewed 4 times and not only did he not get the job but he got fired!

I'm no fan of promoting d coordinators to head coach, but I have to say meeks is a much better choice than a bad offensinve coordinator, fossil...But it is almost like blache is more qualified to head coach, but since meeks has to be given a promotion to come over...seems messy to me...hope these guys have no ego...

Well said #15 I've been a skins fan since Lombardi and George Allen, but I WILL give them one more year. And if i'm not satisfied with what I see and I don't mean the players I will be sad but I will jump ship and go with next closest team. So thanks for screwing with team again ASSSHOLE SNYDER don't make me go with the ravens. I do have season tickets I more than likely will be selling.

Now I don't want Meeks to leave my favorite team right now, but let's be realistic here: he has obviously been a part of that Indy defense we see on the field today. Now, I'm also a Washington fan (used to live near there for 7 years before I moved out to Indiana) so this isn't intended to be negative at all.

This is for whoever it was talking earlier about the stadium and how new it is.....and that Dan Snyder just recently built it.....well, facts are that Jack Kent Cooke Stadium was built in 1997 by Jack Kent Cooke, with his own money. When Dan Snyder bought the team and stadium in 1999 he stated that the name rights were not going to be sold...and that even if they were the Cooke name would still be associated with the venue..and before you knew it he quietly changed the name to Redskin Stadium and then sold the rights to Fedex.......thus FedEx field........He's a real jerk and doesn't have a clue as to what the Redskins mean to the city of Washington, and doesn't care. He's an egotist.....a money grabber......and a fool. Mr. Cooke, we miss you.

#27 I made that exact statement a month ago, it should have stayed Jack Kent Cooke stadium for the same reason you stated. He did ask people to help build the roads going in and out of the stadium, but peoples tax money pay for the roads in this country anyhow or he would have paid for that too. He had a real passion for the game andthe fans,ASSSSHOLE SNYDER only has real passion for money.

Look Meeks is a good defensive coordinator for the colts. and I'm sure the colts would hate to loose him. They had one of the best defensive years of all the teams maybe the best overall. Plus he has been under coach dungy. don't think for a second that he couldn't get the skins a good defense. It's the offensive side of the ball that concerns me. I think Meeks may need time as an assistant head coach before he can fully understand the job. There is a big difference from defensive co. to head coach.

I think Ron Meeks is a solid coach. I'm a Colts fan, and he's done wonders for our D. He gets the most out of the talent that he has, and he's a Dungy protege. Granted, he's had Polian to draft for him; but I don't think that he'll be a horrible addition. I'd definitely take a chance on him before a proven loser like Fassell.
