“ShaunThe NFL trading deadline is at 4 p.m. Eastern today and the Cleveland Browns might do some wheeling and dealing before the day is done, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Defensive end Corey Williams(notes) might be on the block and nose tackle Shaun Rogers(notes) could end up going to the New York Jets since the team just lost Kris Jenkins(notes) for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Rogers apparently wanted the team to release him this off-season but then changed his mind. This would be a good opportunity for the team to send him packing and not worry about future emotional outbursts.

Browns head coach Eric Mangini said, "There's nothing that's imminent. But you never know. Things happen. I'm not saying that it's impossible."

The Browns should take a shot and pick up Tom Brady from the Pats. Chances are he won't make it through the season but it would would be a perfect time for him to leave the Patriots. Probably could get him for a 4th round draft pick.

Jets will go after Mr. Rodgers to try to make it a wonderful day int he neighborhood.
I can see the Jets are trying to pickup the entire Saints team with conditions to be made later.
I'm a Jets fan but they can still fnckup a wet dream.
With all the quality personnel and they cant beat the Bills.
Time to check out the Knicks....

why is mangini rebuilding the Jets? Its so stupid you gave them a franchise qb for nothing, a solid reciever for nothing, now your best defensive player probably for nothing too I dont get it.

WTF the Browns are horrible and we are trading our best defensive player? Also WTF is going on with all these deals with the Jets. First we made a a bunch of deals with them during the draft, then we traded them Edwards, now they are getting Shawn Rogers?? I'm starting to think "Mangenius" is just here to pick what little bit of talent we got left and send them to the Jets. How bout we trade Quinn, that guy is a bum!

The Browns continue to get rid of all players that are good. Once they drop Josh Cribbs they will be in total demise. Eric Mangini has ruined this team for the next 5 years.

I agree Billy K - I thought Mangini would be ticked getting fired from the Jets and wouldnt think about helping them out but looking at all the moves its almost like he is a mole for them. maybe Mangini is still getting paid by the Jets...with that said i still wouldnt mind Shaun Rogers on the Jets :)

Let's just trade LeBron as well since we hit the reset button on both the Tribe and the Browns already this year.. we'll just blow up all the Cleveland sports teams and start from scratch.

Trade DA for Troy Smith. With our lack of QB protection at least TS can move around and he does have a good arm. He is in the wrong situation at Baltimore but is certainly better than our two options at QB considering the Line problems.

Ha! Trade for Troy Smith? I hope we're not that desperate! I'd rather go with Cribbs at QB than Smith...

I can see Mangini trading Rogers...but someone will have to pay big time for him and I'm not sure the Jets still hae enough available in draft picks to make a serious bid. Cribbs is going nowhere and will get paid this offseason. I like Paul's idea...Smith has showed signs of growth in limited action in B-more. He may shock a few people if he got a chance somewhere. Why not at home in Cleveland? I'm shocked Quinn is still here...to a point. The fact that he is lends one to think that Mankok is not happy with DA and is contemplating a switch back to Quinn at some point in the very near future.
All of you that appear to be pissed off at Mangini and appear to believe that Mangini is taking this team the wrong way, BE PATIENT! The reason we don't have a decent team here in cleveland is because neither the owner or the fans have any patience letting the management staff actually build a team. Everyone wants that "get rich now" scheme. I personally don't want to win for one year and then fall apart again. I am more than willing to wait a little longer so that we can watch a competetive team year in and year out!

Thank you Dan. I agree with patience in getting a competitive roster in place. There are some good players here but not nearly enough yet. BringTroy Smith over to QB and if he works out great!!! if he is not the answer he most likely would not pout if sent to the bench nor cost us $$$$ if we sign a free agent or top QB draft pick for next year. You know neither BQ or DA will be happy being succeeded by a new QB next year.

finally a fellow browns fan that doesnt have his head firmly wedged in his hind parts. very nice dan. i also believe that cribbs will be granted a new contract in the offseason, his game-breaking ability cannot be overlooked, and a special talent like that cannot be equaled by no-name LB's, #3 wr's, and draft picks. now, the rodgers rumor is interesting. the only way i would support a deal to the waffling jets is if the browns understand that THEY have the player the jet's desperate need with jenkins out and MAKE THEM PAY!!!!! problem is i dont think jets would send the browns the caliber of players or draft picks that would make this deal attractive for the team and fans. jets gm and rex ryan continue to make moves like his team is heading deep into the playoffs. i will say that i support the direction mangini has this team heading. instead of incorporating the phil savage "band aid over a massive head wound" approach of signing free agents to huge deals and sacrificing your future drafts. (yes i know savage brought in rodgers, something about blind squirrels and nuts) i'm looking for effort and progress this year. browns are already cleaning up the penalties which shows focus even from a group that lacks overall talent. looking forward to next years draft and a competitive browns team in 2009. keep the faith browns fans, this is how good teams are created, smart drafting and free agent additions once your competitive.

There is allot of negative comments here about Quinn. The guy has been completely miss managed here and not given a fair chance. Before the last game he played, the paper said that wanted him to stay in the pocket longer to let his receivers get farther into their routes. Dah, don't you have to have pass protection to do that?. He got sacked to death in that last game and looked terrible because of it. He has been coached to not to do what came naturally for him. That is, move around and get rid of the ball with his his quick release. Anderson sucks and he has sucked for several years. He has been given more than enough time and hasn't changed at all. He has a moment of brilliance, followed by bad decisions, interceptions and fumbles. You can't win turning the ball over and he's good for two or three a game. He fumbles every time a defender touches him. Quinn just has not been given enough time to know what we have. Rutigliano sure likes him.

While I agree wholheartedly that patience is the key, haven't we been waiting long enough? 10 years back, and not a whole lot to show for it! At this point, it seems clear that this is not about the revolving door of draft picks, franchise players, GMs, and coaches. Randy Lerner needs to make a choice: either you get it together and commit to building and maintaining a top-level team, or sell the team to someone who truly cares about football and about Cleveland. He is so busy with his soccer team, he doesn't know his roster from his rear end. Come on, Randy; you are embarassing your father's legacy and your town.

To trade any good player from Cleveland would be inane, we dont have that many. I certainly dont hope they have a fire sale like the Indians did. That would be a BIG SLAP in the face to the FANS. We're barely hanging on, as it is. If they want to get rid of someone, be damn sure to get HIGH CALIBER PEOPLE in return, not just screw the FANS and dump to save money. This FAN is still a CERTIFIED BROWNS BACKER, and wishes to remain so, so, dont keep disappointing us FANS.

browns will trade quinn cribbs and rogers. quinn will get dealt because he is miscoached and mangina will be happy cus he thinks he did a good job with quinn. cribbs gets dealt because well the browns need more young talent. he is also a good kick returner but trade him to the raiders for their 1st rd pick cus they suck every year. Hello sam bradford! rogers gets dealt becuase a certain guy named corey williams is a viable backup and he is durable. Williams is rotting on the bench and never plays. All these guys get traded because of mangina wants to build him own team so i like what dan says, give them time. from all these trades though i think that they will get crap like in the draft pick deal for sanchez and the edwards deal. they get scrubs who need a home and are touted to be good but arent. And they got crushed by the steelers so tyler u owe me a buck.

BE PATIENT. This team will hopefully move to another town again. And finally the Browns legacy will be rightfully put to death. End this maddness. It's not even funny anymore. Expansion teams have been to Superbowls. Browns will never get there. Why? The fans will always support a losing team. Perfect business model.
