NFL - Sports Rumors

“LaDainianSan Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson(notes) missed Wednesday's practice due to a hip injury, but it appears that he practiced Thursday and will be back in action on Sunday to help take on Philadelphia Eagles, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The problem is that the future Hall of Famer who is likely to retire at season's end will be going up against one of the NFL's top run defenses and he's not at full strength. So the Chargers may end up using the five-time Pro Bowler in a limited role for this game in hope of preserving him for the rest of the year.

The guy is only 30 but his numbers have gone down significantly this season and head coach Norv Turner seems to be trusting running back Darren Sproles(notes) with a lot more of the crucial runs.

Prepare the LT highlight reels for endless playing.

A player in decline. When you bag it in the playoffs you have no heart. As the years go by, you have no legs. His window will close this season or next without a ring. Bye bye.

Dave - you're an idiot...how do YOU judge a player's character? LT will go down as one of the all-time greats, and I suspect he has one or two great perfs left in him. Watch out for the traditionally under-performing Chargers in this year's playoffs...they could surprise everybody and win it all. The talent is still there.

i just traded miles austin for L.T. and picked up L.J. off waiver on my fantasy team.
tomlinson is still a top 10 back. sproles is a good receiver and special team player, but he's not the answer.

I can still see him with his face shield (mask) down in that playoff game against the Pats, nursing an imaginary injury. Letting his team down. Unwilling to play with pain. Unwilling to give it his all. And someone asked how I can judge his character. I am not the judge, he convicted himself.

If LT is so great how come he was replaced by a midget down on the goal line?

dave d, LT will be a first ballot Hall of Famer, while you're still posting lame comments from your parents' basement.

Obviously dave d has no understanding of pro football, and what a knee injury can do to a running back. That often happens with people who post. My take on dave d; pasty white, overweight, picked on a lot when young, and masturbates.

Just look at his numbers. 4.7 per carry in 2007, 3.8 in 2008 and 3.2 in 2009. 52 receptions for 426 yds in 16 games in 2008, 9 receptions for 40 yards in 6 games this year. Couldn't hit 100 against KC or twice against Oakland. He's done. Over.

Poor LT. He should be all right once he leaves the Chargers. Norv is too soft and so is the rest of the organization. After next year I hope a contender will pick him up so he has a chance to win a super bowl.

LT is not tough, never was. And all the buttboys in the world that come on to post in his defense can't change that. He's soft as tissue.

dave d you must be a raiders fan or something, because only a biased fan claims LT sucked throughout his career. Either that or some serious crack is being smoked. Nowadays he is probably done, but to say he is soft is just ludicrous. Ask the 28 touchdowns he had a few years ago.

Oh How people love to panic, LT Is not nearly done he only got 12 carries this week that explains the low yardage and Sproles has been worse than LT running the ball this year.
There are a few reasons LT's numbers have been down
    1) The Run Blocking has been atrocious, even during games such as the Den game and Pitt Game Rivers was pressured a lot so the Oline has been very poor this year and needs to get healthy starting with Pro Bowl C Nick Hardwick maybe coming back this week.
    2) Norv Turners' Passing offense, Norv Loves to Air it out and abandon the run. I love Rivers being the Focal point of the offense he Is a Fantastic Quarterback but It does hurt LT And Sproles's numbers because if you are only running the ball 10-15 times per game you arent going to see 100 yard rushing games.
3)LT has missed two games and basically 3 counting the Steeler Game disaster, He has only played in 5 1/2 games(he got hurt against OAK) So Dont knock him also his jump cut has looked decent this year only problem is that he isnt getting 20-25 rushes per game so he doesnt have a shot to put up Big numbers.
So Please actually watch the chargers games before you give your opinion on them
