No more game-day decisions for San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates(notes) on whether or not he'll play. With his team facing elimination from the AFC West, Gates said Wednesday that he will play this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. He's played the past two games with a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

"This is more of a dire need," Gates said, according to the paper. "Considering how important this game is and what this mean to our whole season I'd like to [say] that, speaking in the third person, Antonio Gates will play. Something would have to really, really be hurting for me to not go."

Two weeks ago, he played 35 snaps against the Indianapolis Colts and last week he went 52 against the Oakland Raiders. Gates has 782 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on the season.
